Wanted to put the word out to all youth competitors interested in a tournament on Saturday April 2nd. This is in an effort to see if their is enough interest in having a Ju Jitsu that day. The Wake County Wrestling Association is hosting a youth folkstyle tournament from 9am -2pm. We are part of the Wake County Association and they have asked us to host a Ju Jitsu tournament immediately following the wrestling piece. All competitors must be a member of the AAU organization. If there is enough interest we will move forward and plan to have this event. The cost will be $15, given that the competitor is already a member of AAU. Otherwise, they'll need to register with AAU (Cost is $14). The location is the Franklin Academy located in Wake Forest. Email me at guyncontrol@hotmail.com if you have a youth that is interested in competing.

Hey marc how's it been going? The youngest age we are doing is 4 years old. The division is broken down by ages in increments of two years (i.e. 4-5, 5-6, etc.). We are also consider doing an open adult division as well, if there is enough support. Of course each adult would need to an AAU membership as well (specific for Ju Jitsu). How is billy now? Hope the family is doing well.

You can find all the info at www.wakecountywrestling.org
There you can download the info about the wrestling event (times, location, cost, weight, etc.). You can register for the wrestling at ww.ncaauw.org All competitors must already have an AAU membership. And ju jitsu will be handled at the door. We plan to follow the same guidelines in terms of weight and division that the wrestlers use. But, as you know from putting tournaments on sometimes you have to combine division. Hopefully, we won't need to do that.
This is a gi-optional event. So, there will definelty be no gi grappling! BJJ rules apply. And yes there will be an open division.

"gi-optional event" Cool!!!!!!!!
One time kids who had one AAU card for like TKD or Wrestling could use the same card for Jujitsu. But the adults had to specifically have a Jujitsu card to do Jujitsu, or a wrestling card to do wrestling. Are that still the rules about AAU Card?

James, yes the same rule still applies. Kids can compete in different sports events no matter which one they originally regiestered for. But, the adults have to have registration cards specific to the sport they are competing in(Wrestling, Ju Jitsu, or TKD, etc.). Anthony, we are trying to have an open divison to all ages. But, no their will be no cut off point for guys and gals over 30. Right now it looks like the largest response has been for the youth divisions (17 and under). I haven't got a large response for the adult divisions. I'll update you if it looks like we'll be able to do adults.

Guy there has always been more in AAU with the kids, but the adults they will come, I think. if you need one more to round off the Open division, I'll fight, get my butt kicked but I'll fight, might need someone to hold my walker, but I'll do something you if you need a fat boy.

Sounds good james. Like I said I'll update everyone about the status of the adult division. Thanks for your willingness to jump in there and compete. I'm hoping we'll have enough for the adults to compete.

Brad and Jody, we'd be glad to have you guys jump in and compete. Sounds like we might be able to have an adult division after all. Jody, just let me know Mon/Tues if your kids might compete. Thanks.
