This Past weekend Ringskilz fighters Little John Gardner and Ro Brower competed in Nashville TN at the South eastern MMA Championships : Little John won his match by verbal submission pounding his opponent out from the mount. Ro took on a Muay Thai Instructor from Ed Clay's Gym (Adam Delarenzo) who had a 25lb advantange......to be honest Ro won the fight....the Fans kept comming to the dressing room telling us Ro won the fight///all the fighters and several trainers came up to us and said the same thing.....but hey they were'nt the judges.....I will say this guy was the first guy to make Ro back up with a punch........I have Five copies of the fight to the first five guys who e-mail me and post here to confirm that you did so and promise to post here after getting the tape and tell me what you think about the fight.

In other news (Team -Roc news) For thoes of you who don't know Robbie Adams , He is a member of Team Roc and runs a gym in Fuquay at Beyond Fitness Center on Broad Street.
Robbie is an original founder of RingSkilz and close friend.

I'd like to take a look at it. I don't know either of the participants or teams, and we do not have active fighters, so I think I can offer an unbiased opinion.

Thanks

Ses, first of all thinks for the tape. I just got done watching it. The first fight your boy John looked really good, pretty easy fight for him. Now for the Ro fight. It was a really good fight. The guy Adam was really good, his stand up was good. There was some pretty good exchanges between Ro and Adam. It was back and forth, neither guy seemed hurt thruout the fight. As far as standup, it was pretty even, neither guy landing any knockout shots, I might give Ro the edge in Stand Up by just a little, just becasue it seemed to me like he landed a few more clean shots to the head. There wasn't much ground work, but Ro did have some good clean takedowns. Just on takedowns alone i would give Ro the fight. If i had been a judge it would have been Ro's fight. Ro deffiantly has a bright future in the fight world.

IMO Ro won the fight too. Stand up was hard hitting with the edge to Ro. You don't see too many MMA fights with people standing up that long sluggin it out. Very exciting to watch!

Ro had three or four takedowns too. Also, the other guy didn't do anything at all on the ground but wrap up until they were reset... just plain stalled. No sub attempts whatsoever. The other guy did do a couple of kicks but nothing solid at all.

Only thing is Ro didn't win decisively enough to beat a guy on his home field or ring I guess. I would definitely have judged it differently but the hometown boy is gonna win the fight if it's that close.

Oh, I almost forgot to give props the pimpin' soundtrack too!

I'll pass the tape along to others to watch and judge.

Just got through watching the fight. If I were a judge I probably would have given the fight to Ro's opponent. But, only on a slight advantage. Reason being is that he seemed to throw a few more strikes (punches and knees) with more of them (percentage wise) landing than Ro did. Although, I didn't sit and count the number of strikes being thrown. I will say that I wasn't overly impressed with his opponents muay thai seeing that he was the instructor at ed clay's place. I do not want that to take away from or degrade Ro's performance or the fight itself. He was definitely a good stand up fighter just not what I think of when I think of an instructor(usually you hope they are exceptional). Clearly Ro took the fight to the ground several times but wasn't able to capitalize on it. The opponent just held on until the ref stood it back up. I don't know what the rules were and I wasn't there (to hear if the ref encouraged them to "work" on the ground), but I would of liked to see the ref let it go longer on the ground. Just my honest opinion.

I gotta agree with Rob.I would have given the other guy the nod as well.Being that Ro's opponent was a home town boy,you should have expected that.I'm not taking a shot at who ever put on the show(I agree with them on the winner),but you really gotta beat someones ass bad to win a decision over them in their home town.

This is quite shocking comming from you guys and Im somewhat pissed..........not that you said that Ro won but usually I get some kind of insult out of Billy and he missed his shot at me.......don't tell me....it can't be....we're becoming friends.........that's it....Ringskilz challenges all the gyms on the forum to a round robin game of hopscotch,,,,that'll show you guys.

For you guys who saw the fight.....my complaint wasn't about the action of the fight but two key points that I left out....(I didn't want to influence your judgements)
We were told that the fight would be 3/ 5 minute rounds and it turned out to be 2, I intentionally told Ro to Potshot this guy during the second round because I could see his opponent was already tired....this would set up a third round for Ro to open up. The second point is that Ro's opponent had a teammate Judging the fight (he can be seen on the tape after Ro's first takedown / has a Steven Segal pony tail )....I wouldn't have known it ....till he came up after the fight and introduced himself and one convo led to another....he said he gave it to Adam based on the fact that Ro didn't do much in the guard.....from what I could see neither did Adam......but I appreciate the input.....the final Judgement : 3/2 for the Hometown fighter.

If there had been a 3rd round, that prolly would have been a MAJOR deciding factor in itself. I think that Ro coulda dropped the guy with a right in the 3rd. The guy was sucking wind pretty good and his defence might not have been so great with a longer time limit.
