All martial arts are good, however, training methods tend to render style ineffective. Train for the ring and you'll be good in the ring. Train for the Street...well you get it???right?. There are some combat sports that do carry over to a real world fight but they have their limitations.
Vale Tudo / MMA / Nhb -- give you the ballistic contact, change of pace, and multiple stimuli (as in tools and targets) But you still have to consider multiple attackers,
Blade weapons, blount weapons and projectile weapons, environment, terrain and so on.
No art, No man , No weapon is superior--there is only superior Judgement (choice reaction) at any given moment along the time line.
Yes I have a Black belt in Tae Kwon do and Im proud of it (in case you're wondering)......but I still won't bring a knife to a gun fight just to prove that the blade is an effective tool.

Are we talking about a Duel, or a Street Attack. there is a difference. first you should avoid both but if you have enough room to strike from a distance you probably could leave just as easily.
Unless you have someone or a few someone's to cover your back using any martial arts on the street is dangerous. the environment will change in a heart beat. a few, of their, buddies show up and things can get bad real quick.
I get this in my class all the time “Well what do you if you have 5 attackers” “Run, avoid every fight even with one unarmed attacker, Because anything can change quick” don’t let your ego make you a statistic.
now if your attackers have you cornered, and or already have a hold of you, that is a different story.
you must always know your limitations. and the limitations of what you train in.
