Dear Lana,
You can take a home pregnancy test in the privacy of your own bathroom. You can buy a test just about anywhere - I've seen them at any drugstore and even a dollar store. You have to make sure you follow the directions carefully and use your first mornings urine. The thing is though, that if you are pregnant, you really don't need to face that alone or without some support. I urge you to look up a pregnancy center in your area at this web site:
www.optionline.org
They will give you FREE and CONFIDENTIAL test. No one will talk about you having been there to anyone.
You can call them at:
1-800-395-HELP
They will also keep your confidence. So, if you do take a home test and it's positive, please call them. They can offer you all kinds of options.
Here are also the "top ten" signs you are pregnant:
• 10. Tender, swollen breasts
• 9. Fatigue
• 8. Implantation bleeding
• 7. Nausea or vomiting
• 6. Increased sensitivity to odors
• 5. Food aversions
• 4. Frequent urination
• 3. A missed period
• 2. Your basal body temperature stays high
• 1. The proof: A positive home pregnancy test
Having any or all of those signs are not necessarly definite though - with the exception of a pregnancy test done by a doctor. So, please don't read those and freak out. Sometimes your period will be late because you are stressed out and scared. Hang in there and email me if you need to talk!
