Dear Anon,

I tell people here all the time that it's important you know that ANYTIME you have sex, there is a risk that the woman will get pregnant. Placing a statistical number on that would be far to difficult & likely no where near accurate. There are so many factors that would determine what the chances of conception are. Your girlfriends cycle has a lot to do with things. How much fooling around really went on (condom or not).

Stress certainly would make a period late, but she should totally MISS a period. She really should take a pregnancy test. If she's even ONE day late, it should be accurate. She can get a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL test at a pregnancy center. Please look one up near you at this web site:

www.optionline.org

You can also IM someone at that site - or call them -

1-800-395-HELP

I would also like you to really give some honest and intensive thought at to the consequences of beginning a sexual relationship with anyone. Have you talked to your g/f about what you guys would do IF she is pregnant or did get pregnant down the road? Would you get married? Are you ready for that? Would she get an abortion? or put the baby up for adoption? Do you know what any of those do to a person's emotional health over a lifetime? I want to encourage you to also visit this site:

www.getthetruth.net

Spend some time there going through the information.

I hope things turn out OK for you and your girlfriend. If indeed she is not pregnant, and you've skated this scare, then good - but remember it and vow to not end up back in this spot again.

Hugs,
Kris

Dear Anon,

I found this information for you:

Question
How long does sperm live once it's in the open-air?

Answer
How long sperm can live in the open-air depends on the situation, what kind of environment it's in and how much sperm is present. But, on average, sperm can't live for much longer than a few hours (that would be more than 2 though) in the open-air.

****It's important to remember that if sperm is inside a women's body, it can survive for up to seven days. ***

There is a risk of pregnancy if sperm comes into contact with the vagina in any way including from sperm on fingers.

If you think you might be pregnant, for example, if your period is late, you can get a urine test done to find out for sure. Most pregnancy tests state that they work as soon as a period is late. If you don't have a regular cycle it can be difficult to know when your period is due, so it's best to take the test three weeks after having unprotected sex (as this is roughly how long it will take for the hormone levels to show up on the test).

It's also not unheard of for a woman to not have gone "all the way" and gotten pregnant - - - I know of a couple such instances personally.

Please urge your g/f to go to one of the pregnancy centers I have directed you to.

Kris
