Dear Ree,

If you had sex, you could be pregnant. The ONLY 100% effective b/c is abstinence. You need to get a pregnancy test to know if you're pregnant or not - you can get a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL test at a pregnancy center - look one up near you at this web site:

www.optionline.org

I'm not too clear on your statement about you've only just come on your period - are you late already? A missed period is a sign you could be pregnant. However, if you mean you only just had your FIRST period - then it could be a while before you have another one - it can take a little while to become "regular" with your cycle.

I strongly suggest you do not have sex again though - you sound very young, and someone is probably taking advantage of you. You have your whole life ahead of you - so put that stupid stuff aside, focus on your school, your life ahead and get to work on those things.

Dear Ree,

If you had a normal period, and then did NOT have sex again, you would not be pregnant. Does that help?

Dear Ree,

OK - so your period was 3 1/2 weeks late, but you had a "normal" period even though it was that late right? If so, then it's still a period - and if you did NOT have sex since that last period, then you would NOT be pregnant. A late period happens to us all time to time - from stress, or hard dieting, lots of exercise, illness, etc.

If you're still worried, put your mind to rest by taking a pregnancy test. You can get a FREE and CONFIDENTIAL test at a pregnancy center. Or pick one up at a drug store - just follow the instructions carefully and use your first mornings urine.

I have heard of cases where a woman will have her period even though she is pregnant - so that can happen, but it's rare, and I don't want to worry you by saying that! So, don't worry - I really think you aren't pregnant.

I also want to encourage you to abstain from sex until you are ready for a family. It's really the only 100% effective b/c - and there are many good reasons to abstain.
