My ex boyfriend and I had sex on March 25 and we did not were a condom b/c we wanted to have kids. But my problem is that I did not have a perod for 1 and a half months and I was haveing all the signs of being pregnant. But I started on may 5 but it is not normal. So what I am asking is could I have my period and still be pregnant? I have had people tell me that I could be pregnant but I am not sure. Help me please.

Dear Amber,

Some women do have a period of sorts while they are pregnant. However, stress and worry can throw your system off - and so a really late period could just be a very messed up period. The best way to find out what is going on is to see your doctor. If that's not going to work, you could take a home pregnancy test and see what it says. If you are miscarrying a pregnancy, you may show positive, but the hormone will taper off and the test will show negative later one. If you are miscarrying, it is also important to see a doctor - sometimes a miscarriage takes it's natural course and all goes fine, but you want someone to check you out and make sure that's the case.
