Subject: NCAA Travel Options

Even though I will not be able to make the trip this year to watch the Beavers unless they end up in Minneapolis, I have done some digging into air travel to the East Coast.

Manchester, NH: Southwest, which just set up in the Twin Cities, flies into Manchester. It would involve a layover in Chicago, but the costs aren't too bad, ~$300 round trip. I have not searched sites like Orbitz or Travelocity yet, but you could fly into Boston, Hartford or Albany, NY and make the longer drives.

Bridgeport, CT: Avoid the large airports and look at flying into Hartford, which would be about an hour drive. When BSU played in Amherst, a group of us flew into Hartford and it was a very easy airport to navigate. Southwest also flys there. I did do a search on Orbitz and there is an airport near West Point, NY (north of New York City) that came up and would also be about an hour drive to Bridgeport, but would avoid NYC.

As for Grand Rapids, you would be looking at about a 14-16 hour drive and there are flights available. Amtrak is an option and would take about the same amount of time as by car and would involve a couple of hours in Chicago. A group of us did the Amtrak thing when BSU played in Kalamazoo a couple of years ago and it was a nice relaxing trip. As long as you didn't cause any problems and kept the bottles out of site, they let us sit up in "viewing" car and mix our own drinks.

Never too early to start looking at the options.
