They seem to have the damndest luck attracting the wrong people. I remember when Tom Abshire got in trouble for double dipping on the Raleigh Lights Rodeo program and a few years ago they fired Ronnie Williams and Sam Howry over moving the IFR from the fairgrounds arena to the luxurious Ford Center and just about bankrupted them. Don't get me wrong, there are some GREAT folks in the IPRA but it seems like they never can capitalize on opportunities in the rodeo world and use them to their advantage. I thought with all the turmoil in the PRCA the past couple of years,that it might help the IPRA out. They used to have rodeos from coast to coast and border to border, but their influence has shrunk considerably. I don't know if it's all their fault but it seems that rodeo is either the PRCA or a loose confederation of regional associations. Back in the early 80's the IPRA should have had someone on the road 365/24/7 mending fences with contractors and keeping themselves still visible in states like TX, CA, FL, etc.
Anyway, that's my two cents worth.
