Hi again, folks--

No, I'm not the guy pretending to be anybody. Got enough troubles figuring out how to be myself without going beyond that. As to what happened to me?

I GOT LOST!!

That is, every once in a while, I'd loop back around voy.com but never could find the right Forum thread. If anybody remembers Judy Schall and the rest of 'em in 1960, they may recall how good my sense of direction was at age 16: Coming out of the Montana State High School Rodeo well after dark, I (with my Mom in the car) took a wrong turn in Augusta and wound up 32 miles out of Browning before figuring out I was NOT headed toward Drummond.

I mention the Schalls because a bunch of 'em were FOLLOWING me in their stock truck. For them, it was quicker to head on home through Glacier Park. I found out in my thirties that my Mom believed I'd gone insane and kidnapped her, 'cause she couldn't believe anybody (even at 16 and not about to admit he was wrong) could be dumb enough to ignore the sun coming up in the west.

And I wasn't even riding bulls yet, then, just broncs.

If anybody needs to track me down in the future, feel free to sling an arrow over toward my email at:

Strathian@Yahoo.com

As to the question on Wyoming: I never did much there, except for one pre-RCA year when I was broke and hanging around the night rodeo at Cody for a week or so. Saw a couple of great fights; didn't win anything. Bucked a few bales for gas money.

On the other side, I will admit to being plenty jammed for time, so even now that I found the right Forum again (and did copy-and-paste the address into my word processor), I may find it tough getting back here as often as I'd like. I quit truck driving in Sept. '07, started website building, and have just a couple more months left of cash reserves to get my site profitable or else go back to the trucks.

THAT would be a bad scene, and not just because I'm not that crazy about slinging tire chains on 18-wheeleers in subzero weather, but because it would be REALLY hard on my wife. She's mentally ill and physically disabled (I'm not talking out of school mentioning this; she's completely open about it). Her pain levels 24/7 have to be higher than anybody else I can think of except maybe Evel Knievel, but she hangs in there. And she definitely needs me here.

However, even if I dont get back here often, I always answer my emails, so feel free.

I do know how it is, wondering about a guy's credentials when you can't put a memory to him. In 1965, Pleasant Grove, Utah, honeymooning and on leave from the U.S. Army at the time, I threw my best-ever bull ride. But that was the first night of the 3-day rodeo, and NONE of the folks that knew me showed up till the following day. You could just SEE what the locals were thinking at the Rodeo Office BEFORE I rode:

"Gunsel"..."Rexall"...you gotta be kidding, ACME boots?!!!

It was better, after. There aren't too many of the big names who remember me, probably. Shawn Davis; we college rodeoed at the same time, and he called me "Ves" from the Stony Burke show. Johnny Quintana; he advised me he thought I was forgetting my upper body in 1966 when I was in a slump--so naturally I remembered THAT, forgot my feet, spurred myself in the tail, got knocked out...and eventually quit. Rose Kohrs was Secretary for that one, in Blackfoot, Idaho.

But Rodeo Ramblin' here isn't going to get much done on my site, and my honey gets awfully bored and lonely when I sleep too many day hours. So....

Later,

Fred
