It's great that you found out (fairly) early, it makes things so much easier and and gives the Dr's an opportunity to plan ahead for your baby's birth and surgery. Do you know how severe it is? I'm 23 and my daughter was born on 10/26/05 with the same thing - nearly all her instestines were outside. With her wieighing 5lb 7 oz, they didn't think they would be able to fit everything back in in one surgery, but they did! She has the tiniest scar that you can't even notice, and her belly button appears to be normal (hard to tell with the stump still on!) As of today (3 1/2 wks later) she still hasn't eaten, she's being fed through a central line going into her heart, and still hasn't passed anything through her bowel. She looks (and seems to feel) great, and has been able to gain weight (up to 6 lb 9 oz!) and they are going to start feeding her next week. Although it's hard to deal with, be thankful that you know and can be prepared when arrives! It's a hard road, but well worth sticking through! My little girl is still in the hospital, and probably will remain there for another month or so, so plan spending a lot of time there visiting! They will let you hold her a week or so after surgery if her stomach isn't too tender, so you'll be able to bond with her, don't worry! Good luck, email me if you ever need to!! :)
