Subject: Hangin in there

I am 19 weeks pregnant with a boy who was diagnosed with gastroschesis. All mother's to be want there children to be born healthy, but sometimes that is not the case. I won't lie - I am scared as hell. I have read some horror stories. Kidney failure, liver failure, breathing problems, and infection. Perents who think the worst has past only to experience complications after they take their babies home. I will continue to find as much infromation as I can about this condition from anywhere I can get it. I have found that learning about the personal experiences of those who have already given birth is the most valuable infromation out there. geeps.co.uk.experiences.htm has a great page for parents to share their own experiences with those who are interested. It makes me feel better to understand the kinds of things that could go wrong and get a better understanding of what to expect in the first month or so, and beyond.
If you are expecting a child with this condition, please don't rely on the doctors for all of your info. It's your job to be as informed as possible so there are no surprises!

And hang in there...
