Bonjour Adelaide

That sounds very interesting most of Chris's obsessions are harmless and fun or interesting that most other kids enjoy to. The difference with Chris is there's no ending point and he takes these interests to extremes and continues long after other children have lost interest. So age synchronisation doesn't fit with his interest that have become obsessions.

However there is one obsession that really does place him in a world that is both different and making it difficult for Chris to participate with society. He is well aware of how much difficulty this obsession is preventing him from participating with society however he feels it's part of him and he doesn't particularly wants to change this. When his psychiatrist asked him if he wants help with this he says no he doesn't mind having his problem. Although Chris is very well aware of how much he is missing out on because of this obsession. However I wouldn't mind betting that Chris thinks he's gaining something else.

Sorry for not being specific about his obsession only not sure if Chris would like me mentioning that. If that makes sense.

Obsessions isn't Chris's only symptoms of autism there is much more as well. I've only mentioned this in reference to you mentioning that what Anna Hayward has said!

Take care, Andy
