Hi, my 6 year old has just been diagnosed with dispraxia through his school. We were told that this was pretty much the earliest it could have been diagnosed. It was picked up through his inability to copy things from the black board to his copy book, his hand writting is appalling and his spacial awarness is dismal. This was really only picked up towards the end of the last school year and this year (first class) through sentence recopnstruction exercises in his work book. From the little I have been told about dispraxia, it stikes me as odd how a one year old could have been diagnosed with this disability. I know my son Jack has aparently a mild form as his speech is not affected. I know very little about it. He has an appointment with his peadiatrician with a view to having him assessed by a neurologist as he has a slight remor in his hand. He was born 10 weeks early which could be an explanation as to why he is now dispraxic. We need to find out if there are other issues. He will see an occupational therapist some time in the next 6 months even though the psychologist is refering him for urgent attention. I'm in Ireland and these services are appalingly resourced. I am finding some resources on the internet but would gladly accept and appreciate any guideance anyone might have.

Thanks for your time.

Tom
