As a child i was always hyperactive which is a link to ADD, i couldn't copy off the board at school cause i'd get through one line then the next line would be a jumble of the 2nd and 3rd lines because every time i looked up i would simply not be able to see the line.
i would have trouble reading because i would have to concentrate so hard on each word (because they moved) that i could never understand the sentence, so i would read it again and again then just give up. i was very determined to learn to read and write but believe me it would have been a hell of a lot easier if i hadn't bothered. i have a diploma in child care now and am very proud of it, i got this with the use of my tinted glasses which make a hell of a difference.
there are a number of little things that impede my everyday life but i wouldnt know life without them so that's just me. i take a little longer to comprehend something so i'm that person who laughs at the joke a minute after it's all over. Maths is just impossible numbers are just a fog to me.
i have to write everything down lists for everything and if someone is trying to explain directions or just anything to me i have to have visual aids written down or pictures. as a child you just feel dumb not as quick as the average and just that little more hesitant to put up your hand in case you have "heard" the question wrong.
anyway life is as normal as you make it it'll always a little more of a struggle but still normal enough and people would never know unless you tell them.
well good luck with kids or whatever, yourself there are also good websites that describ the symptoms and exactly what dyslexia is but remembering it is different for all. thanks for listening kate.
