i would like to add my thoughts about the social model of unseen disability and like to add that it could not be but in separate catagres as the subject is too complex. i have found recentely as a person with a unseen disabilty i get questioned alot by people who are not disabiled that they think its an excuse. the difficulties we have with certain issues in dealing with day to day life. people question with ignorance about the issues we face instead of ecepting the needs of a unseen disability and the problem is they can not see it, it can be so frustrating and make you feel so alone.
is the disability not hard enough to deal with with out haveing to deal with the ingnorance of peoples argumentative quesions, i was told to stop telling some one how my disaility effected me because it made them feel bad.
people have walked away from in in confrences about physcical disability because they seamed to think that because they could not see it it was not there. i am so unset when i left on how i was treated. and so angry how a organization could stand on a stage as put out a messgae that disability social model was about inclusion, and at the same time they, treated my like they was embarraced to have me there because the could not see by disability and took everything i said personally, when i had every right to say it in connection to my disability and analagy of how the medical model effects my ability to overcome barriers.
