Subject: Who's To Say...

Mountains that slope gently in
blue mist,
so beautiful in fall and winter with
their fire and ice regatta of
scenes that paint awestruck
looks of appreciation on those
who enjoy beauty.

Of course, there will always be
those who find fault in emotions,
disgruntled souls who have none
themselves to speak about,
who last met with love in an alley,
who think that poetry is written solely by
reading others words, and trying
to copy them.

If they only knew how much pain,
or love,
or hate,
or despair
went into the work of Poe, Browning,
and all the rest,
all tested by the fire of life, and
its joy, pain and tears,
and their ability to pen these words
for us to read today.

Who is to say our words are not
important,
who is to say, that some day
these frail words, from our pens
won't touch them then.
So write them while you may, for
your words will never walk this
path again.
