Subject: I talk To Birds...



I talk to them, this family that visits
me at noon..they listen as I tell them
how beautiful they are.
The three of them walk gracefully
toward my bird feeder on their stilted
legs, unafraid and wanting the food
I put out for all birds every day.

I have watched their child grow
from such a little crane, he still
does not have his red crown, but
is as large as his parents and imitates
their every move.

These sandhill cranes mate for life,
and can live for almost 50 years.
Maybe we have lessons to learn
from them..these mothers do not work.
