Subject: Met-a-morphic Rock (1st Sonnet attempt)

One day as I left home to walk to school,
forgotten was the rock for Science class.
I always did my homework as a rule,
so I was terrified I might not pass.

As I stepped out into the street to cross,
I stumbled due to noise from some car’s horn,
and fell into what smelled like pizza sauce.
But luck was with me on my way that morn.

I met-a-morphic rock upon the road.
High heat and pressure caused it to be squeezed.
It had been transformed from a limestone lode.
I hoped my Science teacher would be pleased.

I was not sure if it was slate or gneiss --
Without it I’d have paid a heavy price!
