Subject: Long Term Storage

Comes a time in your life,
where you neaten the piles,
reduce the clutter,
and set your house in order,
lest you leave behind
chaos and debris.

I am wondering how to store
what I have no use for,
the heart will not fold neatly,
and he is certain it will come in handy,
but I do not share his view.

I could offer it to goodwill,
but that's just begging
to be tossed on the bargain rack
at the Red White and Blue Store,
to be rudely poked and fingered
by buzzards hoping to find
treasure in my trash.

So I will pack it away in a box,
try to remember to label it,
and stack it with the other things
I tell myself are just too good
to throw away...yet.
