I live in Los Angeles and I've often wondered that myself, so you're not the only "geek".

I recognized two locations in Episode 6, "Lucky". The beach scene is at Point Dume in Malibu. There is a huge bluff there and it is a popular place to film. The dam scene looks like Sepulveda Basin Dam in the San Fernando Valley. It's close to the old Filmation studio in Reseda, CA (Although, I think the part of the dam actually bursting was stock footage).

I can't wait for the official dvds to come out so I can scout some more locations. Right now, its hard to tell because all I have are poor-quality videos.
