I wish I could say I'm surprised by this, but I'm not. Their attitude was much the same when I first contacted them five years ago. I had hoped a change in personnel would take place that might bring about a change in attitude, but obviously it hasn't happened yet.
Hallmark, like every other company, is in business to make money, and if they thought there was enough of a market out there for an Isis tape/DVD release, it's hard to imagine them not making the effort. But if that executive's quote is accurate, there's obviously something else happening here. Perhaps they were burned on another deal with Filmation/Scheimer and this is their way of exacting revenge? That's just speculation, but I can't think of any other reason for such vitriol.
By the way, though it looks as if the shows may not be released here, they have been released on video in many other countries, from South America to the Middle East. Either this happened prior to Hallmark's acquisition or they only control the domestic rights.
