Here's how I see it. Filmation also did the Star Trek cartoon series. Gene Rodenberry, Star Trek's creator, did not care for the cartoon series and didn't make it a part of the TOS's timeline whatsoever. But he didn't realize the fan following of the cartoon to my knowledge. Fans kept pushing for it. They released it. It was in fact that series that made me a Star Trek fan. Shatner doesn't over-act in the cartoon either. lol. Point being, is that there are avenues for fans to take. Eventually if there is enough buzz about it.......there is money to be made. And THAT should get some attention.
Star Trek's TOS came back the same way. It was running in re-runs when I started watching it as a kid. Now look at it. Samething with Gerry Anderson shows. My brother and I searched for years for Stingray. When I finally found the VHS collection....that same year the DvD came out. lol. Because of fan interest, Gerry Anderson is planning on doing a CGI type series last I heard in Sci-Fi magazine. And Johnathan Frakes is directing the Thunderbirds live action movie. Who would have thougt that would come about!?I'm surprised how many people are talking about ARK II as of now. A few years ago there were about two or three sites that mentioned it. Who knows, anything can happen over time.
I'm going to contact Filmation Studios and just let them know the fans love what they did. They have better connections and maybe it is a seed of hope. Anyone here can email me at ROYALCOMICS@AOL.COM if they wish to share.
