Hi Jenni,

I can't tell you how sorry I am that you were sujected to that counselor's comments and obvious agenda!!! If you give me her name and the number of the clinic you visited, I'd love to talk with her.

Jenni:
Sorry to hear about the experience with the counselor. It sounds like you handled the situation a lot better than I would have. I know exactly what you mean about being irrated. I swear nowdays if I am not crying I am yelling. I feel absoultly horrible about it which only makes matters worse. I think that the Presumpitive clinic sounds like a good idea. I was lucky enough to find a clinic here that just billed me and now that I have my insurance taken care of I am having to deal with getting them to cover everything but it is really alot better than if i would have had to pay up front. Good luck finding the right doctor for yourself and the baby. And I would suggest at least picking up some Prenatal Vitamins GNC has a prettty good version like the other ladies suggested go ahead and pay the extra bit of money or you will proabably end up like me and paying twice as much because the doctor tells you the ones you are taking are not really sufficent enough. I hope all is well with school and keep us updated on how things are going and how you are feeling.

Hi Jenni,

Add me in with those surprised at your response at the CPC! I can't say I've ever heard that before and I'm sorry you were made to feel pressured. I've volunteered with our local one off and on throughout the years, and the idea in all PRC's is to listen to the woman and hear whether or not she's feeling more comfortable with keeping the baby of placing them for adoption and supporting her 100% either way.

Who knows, maybe she'd had a recent experience that unknowingly affected her choice to pitch adoption so strongly.

While I agree that adoption can definitely be a win/win situation, single motherhood can also turn out just fine. From the little you've posted you certainly seem to be a good candidate for it.

I'm excited to hear how your first check up goes. Do you know about how far along you are now? You might even be able to hear his/her heartbeat. Supposedly if it's a 'fast' heartbeat' it's more likely to be a girl, if it's slower, a boy. It's not an exact science to be sure, but it did turn out to be the case in all four of my children.

The irritability/mood changes are totally normal and you have my empathy. It really does get dramatically better after the first trimester, lol. With one of my pregnancies the hormones were so strong during the first trimester that in addition to the morning sickness I was a worthless pile of mush. I remember walking down from my car with groceries to our front door and when I noticed that one of the common wildflowers on the pathway had been broken in half I just felt tears spring to my eyes. I wasn't exactly sad, or upset, just profoundly moved at its 'brokenness.' When I came in with wet eyes I had to assure my husband that the only drugs I was on were the first trimester pregnancy ones.

Other symptoms were taking my normally sharp at multitasking brain into a supermarket and standing in the middle of the store completely forgetting what I needed and not being able to remember.

As a consolation, each second and third trimester were quite euphoric, peaceful times. :)
