You say it so well, Heather. Thank you. I always struggle when I try to explain why sex before marriage is not a good thing. I know that I believe it is not, but I struggle with adequately expressing "why" when people ask. You did a beautiful job. I think if people could get past the notion that saving oneself until marriage is some sort of silly "puritanical" test...rather than a character-building, life-changing, joy-giving, relationship-affirming PROCESS they would give the idea of saving oneself until marriage a lot more consideration.

Hi Sharon,

Thanks. I agree with you about the negative connotation of abstinence, too. Something I heard awhile ago that made a lot of sense to me, especially in promoting abstinence in school aged children, is to remind that the word is not a dearth of all sex! It's abstaining 'for a time' not permanently.

Considered in that perspective it has nothing to do with being a prude and has everything to do with being a good steward of one's body and life here on earth - proactive planning!
