Don't Slip on YELLOW ICE y'all! --
janice,
13:56:30 02/08/05 Tue
Weather for Carmel: Melting snow with patches of mud...followed by ice in the evening. Okay...It is the Cody Curse..I am all dressed up for an audition..hair, high heels..the whole nine yards.
I slip down my front stairs and into the spot where Taylor's poodle has been tinkling all winter...A nice sized patch of yellow ice. GRRRRROOOSSSSSSSSS! bloody knee, ripped skirt..OFCOURSE a car drives by while I am laying there like an idiot. I thought to myself, gee, I really should turn the Christmas lights back on if I am gonna leave em' up! Snort..I do have 2 frozen light up poodles stuck in one of the snow banks...Shoot, I might just fire those puppies up for Valentine's Day. So, anyway..I was smelly and rather irritated after the fall, so I got in tub.
I am now rested and plan to knock em' dead tonight. I gotta run. Happy tuesday...tomorrow is hump day...I wonder what I should get for my boss! Ha!
janice

Wow! What a Halloween Weekend! --
janice,
03:11:12 11/01/04 Mon
Okay...it is around quarter to six and I woke up with a Snickers wrapper stuck to my neck!
What grrrrrr8 weather we had for Trick or Treating last night. We went to Ryan's Field for the Annual Spookeree..Taylor was one of the first place winners for her Purple Queen on a horse coustume..complete with her dyed to match toy poodles. Smalley's Haunted Halloween Party was great..we had a great band called the Ponytails.
Scotty ST Dj'd at Fiddlers...he played a lot of eighties stuff. McCarthy's by far had the people with the best costumes. Although, I must say that the Swiss Miss Girls at Fiddler's on Friday had me in stitches! Oh, yeah...I meant to mention this. I had some Mom bring her kids Trick or Treating to my house before NOON yesterday! WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?????????
Hullllllllooooo PEOPLE! ALL Hallows EVE???
Celtic Festival of the DEAD??? WE LIGHT UP PUMPKINS CUZ WE CELEBRATE IN THE DARK!!! IN THE EVENING!!! I was like "hey supermom, I know what it is like to be crunchin' for time, but you can't really reschedule holidays and expect cooperation." I did not want to encourage this behavior, so I offered them some scrambled eggs and homefries....THAT'll TEach em. Nobody gets candy before 3pm on Halloween at the Cody house. You wana come at noon and rake leaves for an hour..we will talk. Otherwise...Halloween is at night people! I need coffee.
Have a great day.
Happy NOVEMBER Y'all!

God Bless FLA, Y'all! --
Soggy and Moldy in Lake Carmel, NY,
04:21:13 09/10/04 Fri
Good Morning everyone...do we still have an audience Gina???? Giggle. Before I get silly, I just want to say that I am praying for all Alums to make it through the Hurricanes and the other crappy weather. If ANYONE needs ANYTHING...just HOLLA! I mean it. That is what we are supposed to do. I am quite sure that we are already shipping MEGATONS of powdered milk and bottled water to GRENADA. Where the F%^$# is GRENADA and do they ever send us a Thankyou note???? I think not. I would rather send Gina some Bailey's and a bunch of scratch off lottery tickets, but that's just me. It has been rainy and humid here for days. Yuk...I can't stand being soggy AND mildewy. My Fall mums are getting mushie. I long for a CRISP Fall day. Like November 9th. That is send Janice BabyPhat Jeans Day...just kidding...my Birthday....Turdy Nine....Ye Gods!
I have not had my mid-life crisis yet, I am too busy. From what I have observed lately...Men seem to go through midlife crisis in different ways than women. Men get shiny red Miatas or convertible Mustangs....sometimes a shiny little 25 year old to ride shotgun...Women seem to finally figure out that they are being traded in for a new model and dump the chubby guy in Hagar action slacks and take half the fair market value for the house and the kicky little Mustang. In your FACE BALD MAN!!!!! Then they get re-married to the divorce lawyer or start dating a plastic surgeon! Laff, Ha! snort...I am terrible this morning...Hell, I am like that most of the time.
Right Frank? What are you laughing at FRank????
Nice MOTORCYCLE!!!! Ha! I have seen a lot of old dudes on Harleys too...Cash in the 401k and buy a Harley...and some VIAGRA...Jeeez Lueeez..If I get one more Viagra junkmail or have to endure one more Cheesey ad for it on TV. I had an 80 year old dude whip out a little blue pill and show it to me while I was working at Smallleys.
WHAT IS UP WITH THAT?????? What is that supposed to be for???? In case of a disgusting old pervert possibly getting lucky...BREAK GLASS?!!!$%# Okay, before all of the men get mad at me...The sun is out here in beautiful resort-like Lake Carmel, NY. The kids are back in school..I never understood what parents meant about back to school time....Now that Taylor is 7...I understand. I still miss her, but it is nice at times. MaryRose..that reminds me, how is Danielle doing? Well, I gotta go..My Annual Lake Carmel Panfish Derby is tomorrow and I don't have a thing to wear!
Ciao,
Janice

Hurricane Charlie, Frances and possibly Ivan -- Gina,
19:45:35 09/07/04 Tue
Just wanted to send out a quick message to all
floridians!!!! I hope all made it safe through the storms and without too much damage. I live on the west coast and although Charlie for the most part left us alone, we got hit real bad with Frances. We lost power for three days (some of us are still without power) and trees were uprooted. Many homes were lost as well as businesses. We endured two days of very high winds and lots of rain. The hardest hit by both Charlie and Frances was the east coast and central florida. I am praying that you recover before we see Ivan next weekend.
PS: In leu of money please send Ice and (D) cell batteries...LOL

Hi all! Just got back from visiting Karen Bence in Georgia! Had a great time. We were discussing the possibility of having a get-together in 2005, to celebrate the big 40... (or we can skip mentioning the age and just celebrate!) We were thinking January, warm beaches, plenty of sun, and lots of champagne. Anyone interested in joining, just let me know. Anyone remember Rick Olsen, 5th grade teacher from GFMS? I just ran into him here in Wyoming... he has been living here for the past few years. Good to see another NY'er out here. Anyway, hope everyone is well. We are due for some snow tonight and tomorrow... springtime in the Rockies! Take Care - LB

28 Degrees Feels Like Spring! Nice Graphic, Frank. --
Janice Cody (click to e-mail me at new addy),
07:33:33 02/08/04 Sun
Compared to 5 below wind chills???? This feels great! I took the garbage out in shorts. It is a beautiful, sunny day here in Lake Carmel, NY.
All is well except for my Border Collie barking her brains out. She has cabin fever. A Border Collie with cabin fever is probably the most insane animal on the planet. She has been trying to herd the lint on the rug. Most of the time, this dog does not make a peep. She is now barking at anything that moves. When the cat or one of the poodles will not let her herd them, she just picks them up and carries them there. The poodles did not mind too much. Gucci the dumpster kitten???? She was yowling and trying her best to scratch out Ivy's eyes. Laff! Who needs HBO out here in the country??? We got critters ta intertain us. Well, Karaoke at McCarthy's was fun. The icy roads may have kept the big crowd away, but Eileen Johnson was one of the stars of the show. We have a lot of talent here in Carmel. We always did, actually.. What an awesome day for iceskating. I gotta get away from this keyboard and get OUTSIDE! Ivy the Border Collie is not the only one goin' a little stir crazy. Have a great day y'all!
Keep the Shiny Side Up,
Janice

Hop into your snowpants and grab a sled!!!!
Snow Day Y'all!!!! Just when my snowboarding injuries had begun to heal....Anyway, CHS celeb spotting. George Smalley was spotted yesterday morning at Gug's..NO! just kidding. He was ordering brunch at Dot and Joe's. He has a new truck..It is Saweet. I made my mark on the day by dropping a bottle of iced tea and smashing it all over the store. George Hartshorn has also been spotted at Dot and Joe's. Mina's Mom does the cooking there...BLT salad and her fresh mozzarella...MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.
John Fox is spotted from time to time. I spoke to MaryRose yesterday and left a message for Betsy LaChance. We may go to Annie's for Karaoke...if the roads are ok.
Ok Annie...KARAOKE AT McCARTHY'S FRIDAY NIGHT!!!
WHOOOOO! HOOOOOOOO! BE THERE!!!!!
should I paint up the MiniVan for ya Annie????
My brother might have me locked up this time! LAFF! Joanie P., You gotta come. You left them wanting more at McGuire's that night. Trish, did you get my e-mail??? Dawn, we got the letter!!!
Gina, e-mail me at the new addy. No more JUNKJUNKY@webtv.net...I now get so many penis enlargement adds and coupons for Viagra, that I can't stand to even look at that mailbox. The reunion was AWESOME, but it effed up my first nextel and my e-mail account that I have had for 7 years.
Happy Birthday to CAROL PORTO!!! and May I say: SHE LOOKS MARVELOUS!!!!!!!
Gotta go, Taylor is busy sharpening a package of 100 pencils in the electric sharpener. The noise is giving me a slight pain between my eyes. It needs to be unplugged. Have a great day and to all of you that are in Florida or other tropical climates.....May I just say that YOU SUCK!!! LOL!!
Hugs,

Hmmmmmmmm, I wouldn't mind seeing you in snow gear and a pair of boots, Bruce! Laff!
It really is not that bad. I leave the car running almost all of the time, though. My new indulgence is gasoline. "Yeah, I think I will work a few more hours cuz ah need sa more gas- O -leen..." Laff! I talked to George on the 2-way yesterday. Is he with you now? I must admit that I have been dreaming of a tropical climate.
I really want to make it for Daytona 500. Nobody wants to go with me, though. My few girlfriends here don't really like NASCAR. I gotta go clean out the pellet stove and re-start it. I have been putting it off for a few hours now. Have a great day everyone!
Keep warm y'all!

Ahhhh, Lake Carmel...Yonkers North...Home of the drafty windows, frozen pipes and the neighbors cats on your porch... --
Hi, My name is Janice and I am a CHS Graduate....,
11:29:57 01/10/04 Sat
How Did I get to be a Carmel (gulp) shhhh! local???? I blame my parents. I blame the schoool system...I am calling my therapist right after this! LOL! Anyway....I am so lazy today.
I have not left the house yet. I had an idea though..If anyone is still interested in this board. How about this:
YOU MAY BE A CHS GRADUATE IF:
yA know..like that comedian? whutzhisname???
That redneck that does that "you may be a redneck" bit.
I love the one about..."If you've ever been too drunk..ta fish.." Funny.
If you call the corner of Gleneida and Fair St.
UPSTREET..Ya may be a CHS graduate
This is the one that really gets me...
"Where is Joanie's house????" "Uh, down the road" People here still say that! For years, I just wanted to say WHAT F#%^&&*$# road?
Mr. L Greenwood has to be the closest to EXPERT on what it is like to be a LOCAL here.
He and Mr. McBride make a lot of us look like City Slickers. I was totally culture shocked when I landed on Kentview drive in the 70's. New people marvel when I tell them that ShopRite on 52 was a farm that housed the Menagerie called the Putnam County Humane Society. I used to like to visit the mule and the goats. Mr. Greenwood remembers when it was a functioning farm! I remember getting in the back of Big Bob Johnson's pickup truck with all the bags of garbage and having the time of my life with Kathy..singing all the way to the dump. I would call my friends in Larchmont and tell them the wild tales of splitting and stacking firewood and sledding on a foot of packed snow with Bobby, Kathy, Mary, Chrissy and Jeff Johnson, Kenny Bennett, Dean Riedel, Dawn Riedel. Bobby trapped animals! We fed racoons on our deck. My Grandma's Maine Coon cat and my big black Tom Cat bagged huge prey in the summer time. Our standard poodle became a motorcycle dog. He followed the boys on their dirtbikes everywhere..he ran and jumped like a deer. When Kenny Bennett bought his brother's blue pickup,it was the first time my Father ever considered not letting me out of the house. Would'nt parents now be grateful that a daughter's first car date was to go crabbing in Cold Spring? Sitting in a rowboat eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and checking traps???
LOL! Well! how is that for sentimental rambling...yikes.
Have a great day. Keep the shiny side and stay warm y'all!

Hey Mark! Hey Viv! Achtung Baby! Thanks to you for visiting with us. Loved the chocolate. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. I wish that we had had more time together. Speaking of FLA, George Smalley is either there or will be on his way soon. I had a John Forbes sighting at McCarthy's last week. Peggy Mahoney was spotted at Hess Mart. I guess if was actually looking, I would have more Alum reports for you. Lake Carmel had a dinner for Mrs. Baisley on sunday. Among others, I spoke to Joanie P. and Chris Baisley. Chris, it is your turn to have children...LOL! Ooops, I forgot..Pete Picca. I saw him on sunday also. He is a Middle School Alum and a Fiddler's graduate. I was like "Hey Pete.." like less than 20 years had passed. He gave me the blank "whothefriggeryou?" look and then the "whothefrigcares?" Anyway, Taylor is trying to wear snow camis and high heeled sandals to school, Gucci the insane kitten is trying to eat Rocks, the reunion fish and I am still in my pajamas.
Gotta run!
Have a great day Y'all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL! --
janice cody Santa's Little Helper,
05:40:58 12/23/03 Tue
Good Grief Frank, would you please change that Turkey gif?? Busy, busy, busy! Ya know...it takes a child. Taylor (6yrs old) and I were doing some last minute shopping last night at the Danbury Mall. We were having so much fun and were kind of giggling at the grouchy, stressed out people. No words spoken between us...just some good eye contact and giggling. We were on our way out of the Mall when we passed a Nativity scene. Taylor said "Ohhhhh, Mommy! Loooook, it's BABY JESUS...isn't he adorable?? I said "Yes, Taylor he is the most adorable baby EVER."
Taylor then said "I think that some people get so busy and upset about shopping and stuff...that they forget about Baby Jesus and LOVE." Well, I just scooped her up and hugged her in a flurry of happy tears. I had just gotten my Best Christmas Gift of All. Let us not forget why we hustle, bustle, shop, chop, cook and race around. We do it to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Lord. OH COME LET US ADORE HIM (y'all!)
HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL!
Love and Hugs,

Lou Albano promised to come, I have heard that troops from other towns may be stopping in. Some from other states. John from Hill and Dale makes great soup too! Sorry Carol! I cheated... So, My Track Girl costume is almost complete. I never did get the right boots. I have real ones, but those won't do. I had to settle for lower heels. I still need a few things. A
flashlight, 10 or so more religious medals, gloves and I hope Billy arrives in time w/ my Interstate Batteries logos. Mary Rose cannot be talked into coming. She wished me luck and will see me after Halloween. Charlie Sabian will be arriving soon. I saw him and Hindenberg at the Chance...WOW! I gotta go...I am just sitting here because I am getting kind of nervous. See everyone there and wish us all luck.

Raise your "Spirits" at Smalley's Y'all.. --
Janice (click to e-mail),
22:35:25 09/14/03 Sun
After reading Ghost Investigator Volume 3 by Linda Zimmerman, I am considering going over all of my digital pics from Smalley's. I wonder if anyone caught any ghostly images in their pictures. Hmmmmmm. So, If you happened to have caught a glimpse of George Denny or Elizabeth Smalley, please let me know! This book is kewl. I started to read it and Taylor fell out asleep. I turned out the light and lit a candle to finish up..I started getting scared and then thought to myself: "What am I DOING???" "Sitting here in the ATTIC in a rain storm reading about the Smalley's ghosts by the light of SINGLE CANDLE???
I jumped up and turned on the TV..blew out the candle and tossed the book..far away from the bed." I just started reading it again tonight. I have not checked out the website yet. http://www.ghostinvesitgator.com
Tony has copies of the book at Smalley's if you would like to purchase one for Linda Zimmermann to sign. She will be coming to Smalley's for a book signing in October.

The Bus is comin' Y'all! --
janice (Nextel on the Blink may be getting new #),
07:40:10 08/31/03 Sun
I woke up early this morning and it was CHILLY. Brrrrr! That Back to School feeling is in the air. I always start to feel funny around this time. I guess it is the combination of the weather and the smell of new pencils. I start thinking about going back to school. Something usually brings me back to reality, like opening the bills or wondering where I would find a quiet place to write. Hmmm, maybe Taylor's toy pile.
Once again, a few of us have been chatting about the 25th Reunion. Roseanne Chianese is in town.
She really looks great. Just as sweet as ever. Some say have only one night next time. I beg to differ. I figure, have it the whole weekend again so we can have more time together and also give people who can't make the whole thing, a chance to make it to at least one event??? No??? I mean you guys tell me. That is what this board is for. Our Reunions are for the people by the people. This is so funny. This is how this Reunion board started out. Me...talking to MYSELF! LOL! In case anyone is still out there, My Nextel has the Ex-husband virus and I will have it on soon or a new #. Sorry if you have been trying to get me. Gotta go. Taylor's Poodle is doing the potty dance.

Friday Night Get-Together At SMALLEY'S FRIDAY AUGUST 22 8 or 8:30 pm..whenever ya can get there. --
janice,
10:33:39 08/21/03 Thu
Well, hopefully we won't have a power outage or a natural disaster or anything like that this time. I will probably be coming straight from the Lake Carmel Community Center Square Dance so I will need my Anti-Pasto when I get there. Yum..
Frank and I attended the ground breaking for the new Kent Town Center this morning. It was great. I had only seen it on paper until today. The reception was at the recycling center where we chatted with friends over recycled coffee. I don't know about Frank, but I was really having a good time. It was so cool. I am into excavators. Yeesh, the Police are finally gonna get a real Police Station..like with a BATHROOM and DESKS and Walls and well you get the picture. I hope you
can make it tomorrow night to Smalley's. A few of us got together last night and we had a great time at the lake.
Summer is almost over and the back to school feeling will set in.
See you soon!

25th Reunion Committee Meeting at McCarthy's was blacked out but we tried --
janice,
12:05:40 08/16/03 Sat
Well,
It was kinda fun. Annie lit up McCarthy's with candles. The beer stayed cold for a while and we barbecued on the gas grill. We relaxed on the deck by candlelight....don't we all look better by candlelight???? Later on we were entertained by live bagpipe music. Our Lake Carmel Lifeguards danced the jig and made merry to celebrate the end of a great swim season. New York City may have been in panic, but Lake Carmel seemed to be doing okay..at least up on Annie's hill. Next get get-together to be announced...MaryRose?? whatchya got planned? Ray? Carol?? So Cath finally lost control and grabbed Ray, huh?? LOL! Mark who got that angle like that??
I need a copy of that pic! I nearly fell off the bed laughing. I have never heard Frank giggle like when he was telling me to check out the pic!
Hey what was up with the maid w/the clipboard knocking on my hotel room door on sunday morning at 8:30am???? Was she taking a hangover head count??? I was fine until that last drink that George M. bought me...whooo, it did brain damage.
Thanks George, but Bailey's and Chambord are supposed to be served in a very small glass..not a huge plastic cup!!! LOL! Thanks, I needed to relax. Well, I am rested now and ready to start planning the next one. Frank, I think we will breed our own fish this time! I am not making any more trips to Petco to buy a bag of croaking feeder fish. Thanks to all of our sponsors and especially Mr. Porto for the huge Smalley's gift certificate and who could forget John Liebler's generous donation of a Diamond necklace from Kay Jewelers. MaryRose was one lucky girl..So am I. Thanks John.
Frank Ricca has been the most helpful and most generous..he has given it his all and has also been a true friend.
The entire committee and all of you guys made this happen. I think everyone put a little love into it..how sappy is that?? Our new catch phrase for the 25th Reunion will be...hmmmmm, TOP THE 20! CHS Class of 83 Rocks and our Reunions Roll. Viva La Diva! Long live the Committee! Monthly meetings will resume after the huge committee steel cage match. Survivors report to Smalley's at 4pm..date to be announced.

Hey there! Thank you one and all for making this reunion a success! Mary and I had the best time. I'm sorry to those of you I didn't spend enough time with - I wish we had a week-long reunion! I posted some pictures on the Classmates Reunion website - just click on "photo album" and then each folder to view them all. I am looking forward to keeping in touch with everyone. Let me be the first to suggest a 21st reunion - how 'bout it Janice? Ha Ha! Ray- I'm serious about having monthly meetings for anyone who would like to just hang out - it was a great idea you had! At the very least, we should all keep in touch via email/voy/Classmates, etc.

Peter & Mina Frank,
19:10:27 08/11/03 Mon
I too would like to echo the same sentiments as Cathy and Mark. The kudos go to the reunion committee, you guys did a fantastic job! Mina & I had a great time, it was wonderful catching up with old friends - from both H.S and grade school. It was also gratifying to hear all the success stories from our fellow classmates, it just further memorializes the fact that the Class of '83 was one of the best to pass through the halls of CHS.
Ray, great suggestion about a monthly meeting to just hang out, a nice casual way for people to keep in touch.
Congrats again and wishing everyone all the best...

I would hate to see what Janice is like with a really good nights sleep. I cannot believe we only have one more day to go. It's a little scarey thinking about seeing all of you. What if nobody recognizes me, or worse no one remembers me. Like Brian Van Vlack who still isn't convinced I even went to Carmel High School....EVER!!!!
Brian, are you going to remember my name on Friday? I will be the pregnant one in the corner!!!!
See you all in thirty six more hours. I CAN'T WAIT

Directions to Holiday Inn and McCarthy's --
George W. Paraskeva,
20:17:07 08/04/03 Mon
If you are coming from Stewart Airport(or from points west) take I-84 eastbound, across the Newburgh-Beacon Bridge(the toll for the bridge is $1),to exit 13N(Fishkill Rt.9).
Coming from the east(ie Carmel, the Taconic State Parkway,Connecticut, etc.)take I-84 westbound to exit 13N (people from CT just remember that you want exit 13 in New York not CT!...lol).
The Holiday Inn is on Route 9(North) at the intersection of I-84 (It is very difficult to miss when you get off of I-84).
http://maps.yahoo.com/py/maps.py?Pyt=Tmap&ed=ZtFxe.p_0ToqpnGmcsb5v1PSy_D8iRfAfSdchOlOSuLaMT2fcLv7MOF7LuOhddd66fYjA4FxI201.h8-&csz=Fishkill,+NY+12524-2248&country=us&cs=9&name=&desc=&poititle=&poi=&uz=12524&ds=g&BFKey=&BFCat=&BFClient=&mag=9&newmag=8
To get to McCarthy's (and Smalley's) from there, get on I-84 (east) and follow the directions I have in an earlier post. McCarthy's is in what used to be the old chinese restaurant (I can't recall what the name of it was) across from Dill's Best(which used to be Lloyd Lumber) on Route 52.
I am not sure how many are going to be there on Sunday but just like at Smalley's there should be enough parking for all.If you can though try to carpool to all event locations so we can save parking space, time and maybe some lives.
We all want this weekend to be as fun as it possibly can be! So find a designated driver(or be one yourself),have lots of fun and be safe also.
If there are any questions feel free to email me at:
newt56@yahoo.com
See you all there,
George

Hi, Janice.
Where is the Holiday Inn in Fishkill; is it right off exit 13/I-84? Can I get the phone number there? Also, are you still looking for Mike Watson? I hear he's a teacher now...in Connecticut? Katy (Joyce) DeCamp may know. Anyway, his folks moved to Danbury and his sister lives in the Fishkill area. If you like, I can try to contact his family. And by the way, as a French major, I am deeply wounded by your anti-French comments. I may have to beat you about the head with a croissant when I see you.
Sacré bleu!

jANICE 845 742-5175,
09:47:09 08/04/03 Mon
Wow! Yes, please find Mike Watson if you can.
Yes, it is right off of exit 13 you will see it when you get off the highway. Please e-mail George Paraskeva Newt56@yahoo.com. I don't want you or anyone to get lost..well, maybe one or two. Tell him I will admit (after over 20 years) that The Doors rule, not the Go-Go's.... if he attends. Holiday Inn # 845 896-6287
Hampton Inn has rooms if Holiday is now booked. I was told that it would probably go to full capacity by the weekend. Speaking of the Doors, where is Tim Murphy? Cath, did you guys find Tim Murphy? GREAT WRAP UP MEETING AT SMALLEY'S
We hardly worked at all...we hung out, ate yummy pizza. George was driving, so I had a few cocktails..Nobody really focused and I did not call the meeting to order. We ended up discussing all at the end. Then Ray forced us all to raise hell at the H.S. and got us in trouble with the Police...Gotta love jocks. We had MaryRose do the talking...NOT. LOL!!!
In attendance at Smalley's:
Georgie P, George Hartshorn, George Smalley, Ray, Mark Lewis, MaryRose, Frank Ricca, and a special guest appearance by Johnny Angel...John Raneri..what a nice addition to our group. The other AWESOME surprise was MINA (BASILONE)FRANK!!!!! whOOOOO HOOOOOO! SHE LOOKS MARVELOUS! No wrinkles....BI$%. LOL! She brought a nice gift basket as a donation for the raffle.
Okay, Carol, everybody at Smalley's? ready for friday? Did everyone get their outfit for Saturday? I got 2 dresses yesterday. I ran out of time to shop for shoes.
It is not too late..call or write to a committee member and bring your payment with you or drop it off at Frank's..Towne & Country Liquor Towners Rd. Lake Carmel..near Hill and Dale Deli (pick up some yummy food from John). Deli Land on 52, across from Lake Carmel Hardware has good egg sandwiches if you are on that side. Sapori's has on the left before West Lake Shore has good food too. McCarthy's on 52 across from Dill's is great..beer battered shrimp and onion rings...See ya there sunday..Smalley's Friday...Antipasto, Bailey's and Chambourd..that ought to be interesting. Everybody that is flying God Bless and everyone that is driving..Keep the shiny side up!
See you soon!

Ok Janice I just need to know did you even take a breath while writing that? and what were you on because I sure could use some of it...I personally would like to say I am going to miss most of all this voy.com board after the reunion. There has been so much fun entertainment on here that is was better then my sunday comic strips...LOL But it has been wonderful seeing it evolve over the year and to see all the friends getting back together after so many years. I sure hope that most of those friendships continue on forever..
I also wanted to take this time to ask all of you to take a look at our up and coming website for the Class of 1983. It is in the very beginning stages but it will be an awsome site once it is finished. Please also Thank Patti Winalski for donating her time in creating and maintaining the website for us. There will be a guest book for all to sign and leave comments so please feel free to do so.. The website is: www.chs1983.50megs.com
Janice, I will see you in three days.. now don't have a heart attack it's going to be ok I promise...Also George P. I have everything under control I think I will be able to finish that dreadful paper work after all before I get there..

For those of you that are coming to Smalley's on Friday night....It's still in the same place.A little larger in the dining area now but right where we left it 20 years ago on Gleneida Ave.(Rt. 52) across from Fair St. I am hoping that parking will not be a problem. Between on-street and behind Smalley's we should be OK.
Anyone coming from any great distance will more than likely traveling I-84 to get to Smalley's.
I-84 heading east(coming from the west, i.e. the Holiday Inn in Fishkill,Stewart Airport, the NYS Thruway,Pennsylvania, etc.)get off at exit 18(Rt.311),head towards Lake Carmel to Rt. 52.Take a left on Rt. 52 (to Carmel). When you're approaching the traffic light at Fair St. you will see the Carmel Diner. Smalley's is next door.
I-84 heading west(coming from the east, i.e. I-684,Connecticut,etc.) get off at exit 19 (Rt. 312)and make a right turn at the end of the ramp.Take that all the way out to Rt. 6 and make another right. Then all the way out to Rt 52(this should be bringing back some major memories but don't stop at Fiddler's or the Briarpatch cuz we'll all be at Smalley's!.....haha)and make another right.Smalley's is on the left at the Fair St. light.

If you want to see where you are going copy and paste what is below. Mapquest.com is pretty good and cheap too.

Good Morning Stacey --
Janice,
06:54:08 08/01/03 Fri
After I answered your Questions that Required Answers..around 8:30pm, I tried to finish up all of the other e-mail. I posted a reply here on voy as well. I fell asleep on my keyboard only to be woken up by the phone. Also CHS related.
With over 400 Alums..most of the questions require answers. In the future if you need a question answered immediately, just wait until I'm sleeping and call me! LOL! It is hard to get me too early, I get up around 5:30am. Sometimes 6. I hope you have gotten my answers by now and are all set.

Janice,

It will probably be too late to send payment now. We may get it after the Reunion. My first note indicated that you may bring it with you on friday or saturday. I also talked about making copies of any original photos that you have for the Wall of Fame. Joanie is on vacation, but any donation will be greatly appreciated by all. I had also put something in the note about giving a call to see if we are all still awake at Smalley's friday..by your arrival time. My cell phone number is at the top of this board..give a call if you would like.

Guess this is where you'd prefer I send my questions....
Good afternoon Janice!!!! God bless you and the committee! You all have done a fabulous job in coordinating this event. I truly can not wait to see all of you and thank you personally.
The reason for my email is to say…I did RSVP that I am coming to the reunion, I have a room at the Holiday Inn, I have not sent my check to George yet (at this late date, is it still o.k. to drop the check in the mail or would he prefer me to hand it to him onsite)…been on the road for weeks on end, I will arrive in White Plains Airport on Friday night (11pm), think the party will still be rocking around 12am at Smalley’s???
I would love to contribute to the Wall of Fame. I plan on heading to the attic tonight to find the box marked “Time of My Life” and pull together some shots from Daytona Beach and other HS events. Is it too late to submit something or to bring them and place them on the wall on-site?
Truly looking forward to seeing you and the rest of our class. Thanks for assisting me at this late date!

Hi Stacey, I sent you an e-mail reply. I forgot to add that it is not too late to bring pics for the "Wall of Fame" on saturday. I do suggest that you make copies of these pics. Take them to the Kodak Photo Maker if you'd like.
Looking forward to seeing you.

Janice/George/Cathy O/Joanie P
Janice, you have been doing and continue to do an OUTSTANDING job. I truly appreciate all your hard work and dedication to this fabo party weekend. Just think, what will you do after August 10th? The first thing on your list...no doubt is UNINTERUPTED SLEEP.
I did get an email from you, but did not see your answers, maybe it is my computer...but all I got was Trixie and when I clicked on her...she brought me to Voy.
I will make copies of the photos and bring the copies.
George: Do we think the party at Smalley's will go beyond 11pm? I'll just stop by and see if any of the die hards are there. Jeanette wont be there so I know I lost my "drink'in" buddy on that day! Can I still mail my check to you or would you prefer I hand it to you next week???
Cathy O: My friend...I can not wait to see you!
Joanie P: Way to go on the "sponsorships". I'd be more than happy to conribute. Let me know how I can assist long distance. Is there a spa near by...I'll donate a gift certificate?
Thanks all!!!!!

We have made our best decisions on Smalley's pizza bites, Buffalo Wings and all of the great food there. No wonder everyone enjoys the meetings...YUM! Cody!!! I found out what it is..It is Baley's with a splash of Chambourd!
FINAL MEETING THIS SUNDAY 4PM SMALLEY'S.

GOOOOOD MORRRRNINGGGGG CARMEL HIGH!!!!!! --
JaNiCe,
05:55:57 07/31/03 Thu
The Count..the count..I go to sleep thinking of the count and I wake up to e-mails inquiring about the count..Well, this is what I tell everyone. We were having problems reaching the minimum 200 guests. We did not account for a good amount of Alums coming unescorted. Last friday, without having the minimum, I paid the Holiday Inn for 200 guests. I, along with the committee, anticipate over 200 or a bit more. I thought that I was slick by inviting WPDH and then it was suggested that we invite government officials. I doubt the President will show up, but Scott? Will you please have "Love Shack" ready to play, cuz I have always wanted to dance with George W. Okay, next..phonecalls and e-mails used to be about "who's coming" "how much?" "do you get fries with that?" Now, they are about DRESS CODE. I talked about this in one of my other posts. I guess some of the CHS women do want suggestions or a guideline. In my experience with other functions, the women seem to outdress the men. Ideally, though, the outfits should compliment eachother. Not clash..ie: Black tea length cocktail dress scattered with rhinestones, strappy sandals and for the male?? Kahoona shorts, sneakers no socks and a hat that says "bite me". I like the hat, but the other stuff..no. Ladies: I have heard about a lot of outfits now..We are looking at just about anything semi-formal to formal and I have heard about a few floor length gowns. The dressy dinner pants outfits are popular. Skinnys will look good in those halter styles. Those of us that have gotten a bit fluffy? I will have a few rolls of duct tape on hand for blowouts. I never leave the house w/o it! People have also talked about changing out of the suits..When guys?? The Reunion is 6-11pm. That is fine as long as everyone looks nice for pictures. We should be getting a website up and running soon for all of the reunion pics and dish. Remember to bring Video cameras, digital cameras, toss cameras etc...We will try to have the videos collected and edited. We will have a place to send a copy of your tape after the reunion. I hope..we are still working on that. Gino? Frank volunteered you again..One of our big things that always gets brought up at meetings is having a guestbook so we won't have to work so hard to track people down for next time. Please sign all guestbooks and leave contact info for future events. I will leave this board up as long as they allow and we will be able to come back here if we want. Oh gosh..Smalley's for friday is going to be great. I hope everyone can make it.
George P. will have driving directions ready for those that forgot. I should have my mini-van back by then, so maybe we can turn it into a shuttle for safe rides to and from the hotel. We will see. Katy Joyce and a few others have signed on as designated drivers. Very sweet. I am on hold w/ Holiday Inn right now...OK..The Holiday Inn has no rooms left to sell us. Call the Hampton Inn directly if would like to stay in Fishkill for the night.
I guess that is all for now. My coffee got cold and I need to run to the bank.
Later,
Janice

BRING YOUR DOLLA BILLS TO SMALLEY'S FRIDAY 8/8 AT 8:30ish! --
Lucky Star,
11:11:53 07/28/03 Mon
Ok..please don't tell me that this thing is less than 2 weeks away! Yikes! Committee meeting was very productive. In attendance: Cathy O., George Paraskeva, Brian VanVlack and Karen VanVlack, Frank Ricca, Joanie Puchalski and Mr. Porto. We had a bunch of stuff that needed to be taken care of and although Nextels have made things easier, things do get lost in translation. Besides, could you really talk to Joanie on a 2-way?? Kill the battery in an hour. Mr. Porto showed us some great stuff from his Reunion and we shamelessly.....COPIED. Friday night at Smalley's promises to be a lot of fun. We will have raffles! So far we have a HUGE SMALLEY'S GIFT CERTIFICATE and items donated by Towne & Country Liquor (Towners Rd. Lake Carmel ), more prizes will be added to the list.
Anybody or Any Business interested in donating prizes, goods, services etc...to be raffled or awarded for door prizes should drop them off with Frank at Town & Country Liquor. Any little thing will be greatly appreciated by all. Oven Mitts, CD's, Gift Certificates, discount coupons, Dodge Caravan Transmissions..
Next: I must say that everyone has been just great with helping to contact eachother. I hear about this person staying with this person, this one is gonna meet this one at the airport and then drive together. That is so awesome. Keep it up, help eachother get here. George Hartshorn said something about hanging out at his house a while back..I don't know if he asked Kathy! 200+ people for a Wiffle Ball game at George's! Yeeehaaa!
Next:
Saturday night 8/9 at the Holiday Inn is FORMAL.
Not black tie, but suit or sportsjacket
I have been asked all kinds of HORRID fashion questions..LOL! No baggy work shorts..please. Save that for Friday or Sunday..same with any Bold prints or wacky costumes. Ya know..like your old Hawaiian Print shirt that is really Pot Leaves?? Can you just not wear that on Saturday..please?
Bobby Herde..did you get your outfit together yet? Brian? No Sharkskin..I mean it. Women of CHS..you don't need help.
Next:
Deck party at McCarthy's
I think you may want to practice Hula Hooping before you come. I don't know what makes me say that. I think we might have enough energy for a huge game of Simon Says for the kids..Are you ready Annie? Are you wearing that CHS 83' halter Lara? Rick, bring the Silica Gel.
Gotta run,
janice (845) 742 5175 it is not too late..just get here.

Hi Lara?
I don't think we have met. My name is Janice Cody Ruseskas. I guess we have been too busy planning our Reunion to locate Alums that were not in our Class. As far as I know, Ray nor Mike graduated in 1983. Have you checked Classmates.com, Reunion.com, missingpersons.com, Google or maybe.. try asking people that graduated with them? This board is for the Class of 83 to locate eachother for the purpose of reuniting in August. I am not clear as to what your purpose is, so I am sorry If I have not been much help.

With a heavy heart Sheryl & I will not be attending our reunion. Due to the passing of my father this morning, we feel it is too soon or something, honestly i don't even know what the hell I am feeling right now. But I do want to take the time and thank everyone who has contacted me with their thoughts and prayers, my family and I appreciate it very much. We will be in New York as of Thursday afternoon, until Sunday, and I planned on showing my kids where I grew up or rather got older, so if anyone is around, I would like to meet up. Janice I promised you I would call and I will. Thanks again & God Bless

So if ANYONE has or will transfer pics or slides to these, we can show them. George P. did'ya find Mr. Kimma and his 8th grade trip slides, if we can get'em, I'll transfer them. Gino & Steve Hanley, you boys got any of those "OLD" school newspaper photo's of football games and other events? I found some of mine.

OKay..The block at the Holiday Inn has been re-opened and rooms have been added. I don't know what is left for saturday, but thurs and fri still available. When saturday at Holiday re-fills, you should be offered $109 for a room at the Hampton Inn. Dawn Beach tells me that Military may get an even better discount on rooms at the Hampton Inn. Make sure you tell them it is for the CHS class Reunion on August 9. Anyone that wants to come to this reunion still has a chance. We still have alums getting signed up at Classmates.com. MaryRose, Gail, Tommy, Brian, check e-mail for an invite or reminder..Bear with us, we need to send it out so new people can see the stuff. neighborhood - you know, anything West of the West Coast, USA,;ile say your home in AK, my dwelling here in Tokyo...almost same, no?
For all us who can't make it back for the big day we should arrange a quasi reunion somewhere central - Hawaii?
We just gotta find a sponsor next.
Janice - you're welcome on those track pics - one
picture is worth a thousand words!
O-yasuminasai!
Bob
PS- I nominate one more missing alum for your list:
Carol Hestad
And if y'all ccould invite one representative "sensei" from our days at CHS, I also nominate Linda Forman (Spanish) who, throughout the past 20 years has always told me our class was her most FAVORITO out of all her years teaching.
Any thoughts?

Greeting Class of '83 --
Ed Soto,

Reading all the entrys makes me wish I could attend. I am married to Maile and have two kids. Am living in Wasilla, Alaska and find it difficult to travel to NY in August. Have fun. Perhaps I'll hear from some of you. Cheers.

Hey there DARLINS' !!! Holy Shi#$#@ Liz, you found Darren Wagner? YAY! --
GUESS WHO? (click to e-mail),
18:30:45 07/10/03 Thu
Well, I am back from the Gulf Shores of Alabama.
Great place to relax. Everything is slooowwwwwww. I knew I was back in NY when I held the door for someone and he stepped on my foot (He must have just forgotten to say thanks and sorry). I want to say again...Thanks to all that have paid in full for Reunion tickets. Thanks to all that have called to let us know that payment is on the way. The Classmates reminders that I send are one e-mail sent to the entire class list. Classmates.com puts my message into a personalized letter. If you have already paid, please don't be insulted or confused. I would like Y'ALL to read them (no plinking w/o reading....you know who you are! LOL!) because we may add new reunion info. The countdown has started! Laura, those songs are great. Electric Ave., Little Red Corvette and Lets Dance were on 24/7 in Daytona. Or..were they just playing over and over in my Rum soaked head? Speaking of Sloe Gin on Fruit Loops, did Angela Lurie get in contact with us yet? I like that track pic of you guys, Bob. I printed one or seven...or..well, I gotta go out and get new ink cartridges..just kidding. Everyone is doing a great job of reaching out. Joe Z. will attend. Paul McGuire will be in Ireland and may break my heart..again..oopsie! I need to sleep. I had drinks with dinner..can't get out of vacation mode.

I cannot wait to see you two. It's been a very long time. My husband Gary and I were down in the Ft. Lauderdale area about ten years ago, out drinking and getting nostalgic. I tried looking you folks up but couldn't reach you, maybe I had a little too many cocktails. Well, now I'll finally get to meet up with you two again. Can't wait. Em

Hi Ray,
Cathy Casella lives up the road from me in Poughquag, NY. Also Brian Greene, Rich Kehoe and Dawn Morgan live nearby. I will try and contact them. Barbara Dietrich (Fox) lives in CT and was my co-worker at Duracell for many years. I'll find out if she's attending. The last I saw, Paul McGuire was working at Danbury Hospital as a neurosurgeon. I have not seen him in many years. Hope we can all find everyone, and thanks to all of you for putting together such a wonderful event.

We are past deadline, but there is still time before final payment is made. We just have to let the banquet manager know. I am sure you all understand this. Most of you that have had weddings know that you cannot have 200 people show up after the final head count! :) I just got a call from the Prez. We got cut off before we could finish. No # on my caller ID or recent calls Laurie or I would have called you back..sorry! She has a few requests and concerns. Safe passage to and from the Holiday Inn on Friday. This has been on my mind too. I once fit 9 people in my Honda Accord to tote home from Fiddler's, back in the day. Maybe we can have a buddy system with designated drivers. We don't have a city bus system. I really would appreciate people posting ideas on this.
The other thing that Laurie asked about before we got cut off was childcare. I was not sure about this and am not sure how to tackle it with a male dominated Reunion Committee. I guess we can poll the Alums for this, as well. Maybe some alums have qualified teens that may want to make some money babysitting? I dunno? Please post on this. Laurie, I don't know why you have had trouble e-mailing me or calling me, but if the e-mail continues to bounce, just e-mail Ray or Cathy
CHIRO4U2@rcn.com or DADSLA@bigfoot.com The # you got me on is my cell phone and you can use that any time. I will be in Alabama from July 2-July 12. Please e-mail Ray, Cathy O. or George Paraskeva Newt56@yahoo.com to let them know your payment is on the way or if you need help with hotel reservations or have questions.
My e-mail will probably fill and mail your mail will be returned. The next Reunion Committee meeting is saturday July 12th. I may still have sand in my ears. 4pm Smalley's. If you wanna work, be there. Chuck Rodda, Chris Ryan & Paul McGuire are the top three most requested male Reunion guests so far. Interesting, huh? I guess I will have to figure out the top 3 females. One female name does come up a lot. ;)
gotta run,
Janice

Janice (click to e-mail me) Michael you better be coming..if not just send chocolate!,
05:04:35 06/23/03 Mon
Very productive meeting. In attendance: Ray Beach, George Smalley, George Paraskeva, Tony and Carol Porto, Brian VanVlack, Chris DeBellis. Special guests...CATHY O'Rourke! Jim Asselmeyer! Joanie Puchalski! I must say "They look Marvelous!" We had a lot of work to do this time tracking down the rest of our classmates who still may have not gotten the word. What was the main topic of discussion?
M...O...N...E...Y..
We got together and pooled our lists of yes responses and realized that we will have a large turnout if everyone that said yes actually remits payment. Smalley's Friday night will start around 8:00pm. I know some of you have been asking about that. We are still working on the sunday picnic. e-mail or call if you need help with something junkjunky@webtv.net (845) 742-5175
or Ray CHIRO4U2@rcn.com or Cathy O. at DADSLA@bigfoot.com
Hey? Anybody know where Darren Wagner is?
George King please come to the Reunion. There have been many requests for you. Paul, you too.
Next committee meeting July 12th.
Thanks again to all who are working on this stuff.

Hi! I don't how many of you will remember me..... I'm so glad to have found this site. I had been Google-ing around looking for info on our 20th class reunion, but didn't find anything. Then my sister Katy (Joyce) DeCamp directed me here. Katy, Dawn Turnrose (I've forgotten her married name) and I are planning to attend.
My folks still live in Carmel, on Fowler Ave. behind Smalley's, but I'm up in Albany now, not too far away. I'm looking forward to seeing everybody. Let me know if I can help in the planning. Where is the picnic going to be, has it been decided?
Thanks for all your time and work to date!

(845) 896-6287 HOLIDAY INN FISHKILL --
Janice,
05:18:07 06/12/03 Thu
HOLIDAY INN ROOMS
Hi,
There are still a few rooms left in our reserved block. All are left for thursday. Some for friday and a few for saturday. When saturday sells out. The Hampton Inn will be offered at the same rate. There are other Hotels right there. The Residence Inn ( If I am correct, more for long term stays and not a full service hotel..more like a condo) The Marriot Courtyard (nice). It is the drinking and people being tired after a long day that concerns me.
OK..Next thing
Laurie had wanted to do a brunch at the Holiday Inn on sunday morning. I have discussed it with our banquet manager, but it is just close to impossible to get a head count on that (and collect the fee for it). I might even change my mind on sunday morning..depending how bad my headache is! A few doors down on the same side of Rt. 9 is a Cracker Barrel Country Restaurant
they serve a pretty good breakfast and have a little gift store. I am sure some of you have them in your state. We could all go there together and then not worry about collecting money and getting there at a certain time and if people are hungover or change their mind for whatever reason..so be it. I would like your opinion on that.
I see more people have signed on to Classmates..I will get your invitations out soon. Maura, John, Laura Don't for get REUNION COMMITTEE MEETING
JUNE 22, SMALLEY'S 4PM ALL WELCOME

Hey everyone,
Out of everyone who has sent an RSVP we have only received a few payments. August 9th is not too far out and we need the funds to get this reunion set up. Please send in your payments as soon as possible. Please email me names of people you may have contacted that are or are not coming. I'd like to make some more calls but would like to narrow down the list.
I went to the class of 82's reunion last year and had a great time. It's well worth the time to see people that you haven't seen in the past 20 years. I hope to see all those who make it on August 9th. Ray Beach

Hey! I e-mailed you through Classmates, did you get it yet? I hope you did not delete me! LOL! Yes, please hang on to the slides. We are working with a small budget here. Trish the 83 was not rounded on purpose. Class of 83'...$83.00. Our brilliant CHS Reunion Committee came up with that while I was on the phone or something.:) Thanks to all that have sent checks. I spoke to George this morning and he has you marked paid in full. Our next REUNION COMMITTEE MEETING WILL BE HELD JUNE 22, 4PM AT SMALLEY'S CARMEL...ALL WELCOME.

$83.00 for Dinner, Drinks, DJ and Dancing in New York? A steal! --
Star Lite / Party Promoter :),
05:24:14 06/04/03 Wed
I posted this before, but it is gone..Here it is again.
Friday will be a get-together at Smalley's (if this is going to be too many for Smalley's we may have to change locations.) This is impromptu. Cash bar. Kind of like going out on a friday night. I don't think we need to tell Carmel Alums how to do this. LOL!
We will have more details soon.
Saturday (August 9th) at the Holiday Inn
Cocktail hour is 6pm-7pm outside by the gazebo.
Open bar, hot and cold h'ors d'euvres
Then we go in for a buffet dinner:
Tossed Garden Salad, Farfalle and Grlled Vegetables, Toamato, Onion and Mozzarella Salad
At the carving station:
Oven Roasted Sirloin of Beef
Entrees
Pistachio Crusted Chicken, Stuffed Pork Loin, Seafood Stuffed Sole, Eggplant Rolatini
served with fresh vegetables
Dinner Rolls
Dessert, Coffee and Tea
Since $83 just about covers dinner, the picnic on sunday was included as a bonus. Some have misunderstood and wish to have the cost of the picnic subtracted from the ticket price. In consideration of travel expenses, the committee kept the ticket price as low as possible. Maybe too low! I might be making 400 Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches and a lot of macaroni salad for the picnic on sunday! LOL! Please RSVP at Classmates.com and get your checks to George Smalley as soon as you can. The cut-off is June 29th that is for the hotel block as well.
Ofcourse, we are a bit flexible..just e-mail or call me (845) 742-5175. The hotel, however will close the block. On the subject of people that did not actually graduate coming to the reunion?
The committee has ruled that they are indeed welcome as long as they send their $83! If you have questions about that or pro-rating of tickets etc..Please e-mail Ray Beach CHIRO4U2@rcn.com Now that we are getting closer to the event, I am getting a larger volume of mail from you guys and I really want to make sure that we contact everyone and get out all of the info so all have a chance to come in August.
Although I am getting the most e-mail, it is not just me doing the work. I have a GREAT committee working with me too. I thank them all for putting up with me. Ray getting trying to field my phone messages in between patients, George doing the banking in his big rig (George, do they let you in the drive-thru?), Cathy O, calling people we never heard of from the Alumni book! LOL! Gina Tormey my web liason (How many cell phone minutes do you get anyway??), George Paraskeva, Brian VanVlack, George Hartshorn, Tony Porto(Thanks to Tony and Mr. Porto for hosting our committee meetings), Chris DeBellis and more of you out there are all doing a great job of contacting people.
This will all come together and it will be great.
George says: "Send Money Please!"
Checks payable to:

I agree: $83 is a bargain! You guys could have easily rounded it up to $85 :) The plans look great - kudos to the commitee! And I will bring milk to go along with the peanut butter sandwiches if necessary...haha.
A request (again) for everyone lurking out there who might be able to help track down people. It would also be helpful if you know of someone who definitely *won't* be able to make it to the reunion. Maybe we have classmates who are on stuck in a submarine, up in the Space Station or on military duty overseas. Maybe those people don't have access to a computer. If you can clue us in on these folks it would be appreciated!
Maybe as time gets shorter we can post a list of people still not found here on the board in a last-ditch attempt at finding them?

PLEASE HELP US FIND PEOPLE --
Cathy O'Rourke,
06:15:33 05/26/03 Mon
We have started trying to locate classmates who haven't left messages on the reunion response board or on this site. Mark Lewis, Tricia Mulvihill, Patty Delaney,(I think) Ray Beach and Janice and I are going to start calling people out of the alumni book, but I am finding the book to be outdated. If you know anyone who's name hasn't shown up, and either they want to be contacted or even if they don't just send along their name and at least we'll know not to keep trying to find them. There were over 300 of us and so far only about 50 to 100 have been heard from or contacted.
Thanks, Cath

Happy Memorial Day Weekend! --
Janice,
10:22:47 05/24/03 Sat
It has come to my attention (again) that some us are having problems with the Classmates.com site.
I talked to Chris DeBellis today and he told me that Classmates sends a lot of junkmail. So...you guys may be deleting stuff that I am sending, thinking that it is Classmates asking for money again. That would explain why I have a bunch of un-read e-mails from some of you. I used to plink all of that Classmates crap too. That unfunny weekly cartoon? Some people live on the computer some don't touch it for a month. My point? Please don't delete the Classmates stuff. It may be from the committee. Next, we are going to start calling for a head count. Cathy O'Rourke or part of her committee may be giving you a ring. I have no problem answering questions or taking suggestions or helping in any way. Just e-mail or call. You can also e-mail Ray CHIRO4U2@rcn.com My e-mail does get a bit full, so bear with me. I want to say thanks to everyone who is pitching in and spreading the word. Every little thing that everyone does helps. We will get this all done and it will be great. Janice Cody Ruseskas
PS..Pete Stoyanoff? Do you remember me now? Janice? Cody?... short brown hair, loved to dance, sat behind you in french class? Senior Class Treasurer?
LOL!
Have a great weekend everyone..I am going fishing with my brother.

Holiday Inn Update --
Janice,
12:46:30 05/16/03 Fri
Today Ray and I met with Maureen from the Holiday Inn. We chose the table linens, made menu selections and decided to have cocktail hour outside (weather permitting). We have reserved a block of rooms at a discount rate of $109 per night. Please call the hotel directly to book your room as soon as possible. I don't have the toll-free # for the Holiday Inn, but the direct # to the Fishkill Holiday Inn is (845) 896-6287. When you call make sure that you mention that you are with the Carmel High School 83' Reunion.

finding a park for the picnic -- Janice,
19:21:56 05/18/03 Sun
Hey Janice,
After talking with you about finding a place to have the picnic on Sunday, I did some searching and found these two parks. The websites were not too informative but they did give numbers and addresses of where they are located. Maybe you know more about them.
1.) Clarence Fahnestock State Park
RFD#2 Carmel N.Y.
Phone # 845-225-7207
2.) Sycamore Park
790 Long Pond RD.
Mahopac.
Just a thought I have no Idea about them so I'll leave it up to you

Sunday Committee Meeting --
Janice,
04:33:47 05/19/03 Mon
The meeting went very well. In attendance: Brian VanVlack, George Paraskeva, Ray Beach, George and Kathy Hartshorn, Scott Stephens and Emma and me.
We had a huge agenda and a small amount of time to work on it. We have set ticket prices at $83.00 per person for the reunion saturday night at the Holiday Inn and the picnic on sunday. We are still having problems with details because we are not getting responses from everyone. We had over 400 people in our class. If everyone decides to come and brings a guest that is a lot of people to deal with. We can't do much more without a head count. Please go to Classmates.com. Click on the reunion and use the RSVP feature. We will have more info and where to send payment soon.
Oh, remember to reserve your rooms at the Holiday Inn. You can always cancel if your plans change. The hotel is very busy and books up fast. They were reluctant to block off a large amount of rooms for us, so we need to get them reserved quickly. I know some of you have already booked your rooms at the $149.00 rate before we got the discount. If you call them, they will adjust it to the $109.00 rate. I talked to them about it friday. Next committee meeting should be around June 15th but I will post the confirmation.
Janice :)

Konnichiwa All Fellow CHS'83 Classmates! Its great to see the 20th has such great interest. My wife and I attended the 10 yr when we flew in from Waiikiki and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Great fun! But considering our present location now on a separate "rock" called NIPPON (in Tokyo for 7 yrs+) and the fact that in Summer, my employment/residence status is questionable (presently networking big-time to find work Stateside) meaning there may be a big-time trans-pac move for us coming up, the possibility of me, my wife and my little boy (2y11mos) attending is iffy. I would like to recommend not only one day but an entire weekend of stuff should be planned since it seems like there will be many people coming from all over. I liked to recommend Annie McCarthy's place, as someone else suggested earlier here, Ryan's field, maybe get something going for all the "children of the grads" to have fun in - kinda like a "field day" we used to have at MPES at the end of the year; Green team, red team, etc. Perhaps arrange an outdoor concert type thing (my bro' Mike is local in Danbury and still a drum banger, recently wed and expecting - perhaps theres a possibility?)
I wish I could help out in the planning somehow - please let me know, OK?
Oh yeah, anyone know emails for Pete Stoyanoff, Tom Maher, Tony Carriello, Brian Callaghan - kinda lost touch with these guys...
And Hi to Pete Whalen in Hawaii! Howzit! Are you in Pearl City, living on PH base? Double Cool! Drop a line - it would be great hearing from you.

Mark, if you or anyone else would like to help her out with the "hard to find" list, let me know and I will get you her e-mail. I think it is also on one of the old messages if you scroll way down on this board. I see that 8 more people from 83' have signed up with Classmates.com. That is great. Hey, it's great to see so many postings have been made recently!! I hadn't checked back in a while, so missed the info about the planning meeting. I live right here in Carmel and would love to help. When is the next meeting?
The picture up top of the message board is great...can you add the reunion date, location, etc. so that it always appears right up top? Someone new to the board now has to scroll through a ton of messages to find the details.
Has anyone thought about videotaping the event for long-lasting memories? I know a couple videophotographers right here in the area if it's worth looking in to.
My email is dmd@bestweb.net. Looking forward to the event....especially since I had to miss the 10th reunion.

Our next meeting will be around the middle of May. Not sure of exact date yet. I never thought of a videographer. Bring details and prices to the meeting to discuss. :)
Thanks for the input. See you at the next meeting.

DJ and Music selection --
Janice,
14:21:11 04/11/03 Fri
Laurie,
Which brother? Scott Stevens, Mike Stevens or Matt Lantry? If it is Matt, my sister can give me his #. We also have 2 DJ's lined up to discuss at the meeting. One that Brian Greene suggested will even play during cocktail hour.
Gary Madison, another CHS Alum has also been suggested.
Elaenor,
I will bring up the "Awards" idea at the meeting on Sunday. I am adding it to my agenda right now. As for the music. We discussed this yesterday. We figured 70's and 80's, but everybody please feel free to post your ideas for music. That is what this board is for. It is also here so people that have been "out of the loop" for whatever reason can find people and catch up on reunion news by scrolling down and reading old posts.

Thanks to Tony and Carol Porto for hosting our first Reunion planning session --
Janice,
05:30:55 04/14/03 Mon
Well, our meeting at Smalley's went well. We discussed all agenda items. We had a great time too. In attendance: George Smalley, Ray Beach, Dawn Beach, Chris DeBellis, Brian VanVlack, George Paraskeva, Tony Porto and George Hartshorn. We also met up by chance with Paul Ferenc as he came in with his family for dinner. I think one of the most important things that we did was go through the yearbook and make an "I can contact this person" list. Each one of us jotted down names of people that were not on Classmates.com, may not have heard about the reunion yet, are not on-line etc...but made it onto one of our lists as reachable. I am really hoping that we won't have a long "We can't find these people" list like the one that came with my husband's reunion paperwork. The second major thing we did was talk about having a casual gathering on the friday before the reunion. As everyone sat there so relaxed, munching chicken wings, talking and laughing, Smalley's just seemed like a good place to consider. We figured a cash bar and bar munchies. More details to follow. I will send out an e-mail to all listed with Classmates.com to get everyone's opinion.

Just a thought...might be fun.

Music --
Eleanor Branch,
12:14:33 04/11/03 Fri
Hi Janice,
I am assuming a DJ will be hired. The DJ at our 10th played a lot of 90's music. I think any DJ hired should stay with 70's and 80's music, but only dance songs. I really don't want to hear "Beauty and the Beast" again. When that song came on at our 10th my husband sprinted out of the room. I had to beg him to come back in from the bar. Mind you, it was the Knicks/Bulls playoffs and he didn't need much of an excuse to leave, but if 70's funk was playing he would have stayed (maybe).

Glad You're Back! --
Trisha Mulvihill,
08:00:03 04/11/03 Fri
Hi Janice-
Glad you're back and everything is okay, You're right, one of us should have thought to try reaching you by phone. It was just worrying that there had been no updates here from anyone for quite awhile and emails to you were being bounced back. Technology doesn't always work when we want it to! So it's nice to know all is well.
Like I said I *really* didn't want to step on any toes by creating the new message board. If you prefer to keep all messages here I can dismantle the other one no problem. If there's a way for you to delete my previous message about a new board, please do that ... don't want to cause sonfusion. And it goes without saying, so many of us are willing to pitch in. We appreciate all the work you've put into this so far, and know it isn't an easy task. Just say the word and we're there to help.
Best,
Trisha M.

Message board for our reunion: http://forums.delphiforums.com/carmelhigh83/start --
Trisha Mulvihill,
21:53:23 04/07/03 Mon
Hi Everyone-
Time is really slipping away and the lack of postings here of late has many of us wondering what, if any, plans have been made yet. I've been exchanging emails with a few of you and we'd really like to get the ball rolling. I *really* don't want to step on Janice's toes... she got the conversation going and there have been some great posts here. But I think we need to get a little more organized and start making contact lists. I took the liberty of setting up a message board that will keep everyone updated. It's free to join, easy to navigate and you can find topics at a glance. Here's the link:
http://forums.delphiforums.com/carmelhigh83/start
Janice, Laurie and others.... if you already have some plans made, please feel free to use the message board as an information center for everyone.I'd like it to be my contribution to this project. If no definite plans have been made yet, it'll be a good jumping-off point. Some folders have already been set up so people can post their opinions about when & where the reunion should be, as well as post their contact info.
Everyone please spread the word... I'll try to start compiling an email list so no one gets left out.
Patricia Mulvihill

Hi all!! Looks like it's tough getting a reunion together via electronic forum with infrequent postings. Have you guys considered a reunion committee and scheduling time to discuss when and where the reunion will take place? Maybe even a scheduled conference call to get focused? I'm also in Carmel still and would love to help out.

Villa Barone and Date for reunion --
Janice,
04:09:08 12/14/02 Sat
Antoinette is going to check prices and availability for Villa Barone and also find out if the hotel will be completed by the reunion. At this time, the facilities may be picking the date for us...meaning, what weekends are left open. I went to a wedding at the Holiday Inn in Fishkill and it was OK..we could consider that they have plenty of room and ofcourse, the hotel.
Candi, Tracy, Antoinette, myself and others that still live in Carmel and the surrounding area are ready as soon as we get the place and time. I think we were all just afraid to take the wheel and to make people unhappy. Also, I notice down the board that Carol Porto has mentioned Smalley's for part of the reunion weekend. Thanks Carol. We might want to consider that for an informal gathering if it can hold that many people! Laurie had mentioned in her post about one night being snacks and drinks.. How about sink burgers and beer?

Kim Barke,

Hi Janice,
I'm so glad to see that you've taken the initiative to plan something for next year. I'm in Red Hook, not that far from Carmel, so I'd be able to help if you need it. I also recently quit my job, so I have more time than I use to.
I don't have any suggestions for venues since it's been so long since I spent any time in the Carmel area, but I do agree with others that the summer would be a good time.

Well,
We need to set a place and time first and then your help will be great. Thanks. Keep in touch. Antoinette is working on the details for Villa Barone in Mahopac. We will see what the price and availability are for that. Also, it is still unconfirmed that the construction going on behind it is a hotel.

Hi I'm so happy I stumbled onto this site. I still live close to Carmel (New Canaan) but don't get there too often. My parents have moved away. Since I am close to being local, though, anything I can do I'd be glad to. I still am in touch with a couple of people. Thanks Janice and Laurie for setting up this site. I missed the 10th reunion and haven't seen most in almost 20 years. Good luck! Congratulations Polly...it gets easier!

hello again everyone. Its been a while since i looked at the chat board but i like polly's idea with the crystal bay a motel with everything we can do in one place. the summer and early fall months can be a weather nightmare so if we can plan everything at a place where we can move indoors if it rains we can be sure to get all activities in. im like a lot of others for the date laurie dont worry about it just set it. this is the class of 83 have a party and they will come. we never had any problems getting the keg empty in high school why should it start now. wayne

Reunion --
Tracy Green-Smith,
18:29:23 08/14/02 Wed
Hi Everyone,
It's been awhile and it's great to see how many classmates are still local. My daughters are both in the high school now so, it's wild to see how many teachers are still there.
I have a friend who works at RCN (local cable company) and I could find out if he could put a little blurp on the channel that shows local things. Maybe put the link for the website on and give more people an opportunity to get involved. I too would like to be involved in the planning and offer any assistance that is needed.
Maybe for a fun thing to do family wise during the summer they have the Renegade baseball games in Dutchess and they are alot of fun and inexpensive. You can rent rooms for parties I am almost positive. Just a thought.... I was at candie tangredi's for dinner the other night and her and tommy are doing great.. they have two daughters and live in New Windsor.
If anyone thinks my ideas are worth looking into let me know and I'll do the research.
Tracy

Laurie Brown,

Hi. Just wanted to post some info. Recently attended my husband's 20th reunion, and had a great time. Friday night was drinks/snacks, Saturday was tour of school and golf, and Saturday night was a dinner. Having the two nights really allowed for friends to reunite and spend a good weekend together. Sunday was a family day at the lake. I really look forward to seeing all. Alix.. the idea of a committee sounds great. Even though being out in Wyoming, I could probably find a weekend to come in (in fact I'll be in Penn. in Sept.. might have to ride on over to NY). We'll keep info posted. Laurie

Eleanor (DeRoma) Branch,
20:41:45 06/07/02 Fri
Hi everyone. I just got off the phone with Candi and she told me you all were here. This is a great idea. Thanks Janice.
First of all, CONGRATULATIONS POLLY! Hope you are all doing well. I know what it's like to wait. I just had my first baby on New Year's Day! Why did we wait so long?
I'd love to help any way I can, but I'm in Colorado. A lot of great ideas, but a decison needs to be made soon because Hotels like you to book as far out as possible. I agree with Leona in that no one date is going to be good for everyone. Although, it will get easier to narrow it down once a style of reunion is chosen since it will also depend upon the availabilty of the location.
I think Polly's idea of a cocktail hour is good. An open bar all night and maybe just a light buffet (appetizers).
Would Putnam County Park be an option for a Post-reunion Family day or would they not allow non-residents?
I'll keep checking back. My best to all. Eleanor

Reunion -- Leona (McCarthy) Stevenson,
20:46:18 05/21/02 Tue
Hi to all! Have just had a chance to take the time to read everyones input. Whatever dates ya'll decide someone will hate it or can't make it. Basically, go with the majority. I'm a dealer at a casino so really no date is good for me. The summers are the busiest. What about the weekend before labor day? Usually, everyone has plans for labor day. I agree with Trish's idea of looking into the Hilton. Alot of people are coming in from out of town and Danbury is still close enough to Carmel to schedule any events. Although, Fishkill isn't to bad either. I haven't been home in awhile to know what's new/old or good/bad.
Now that I'm living in Mississippi for nearly 11 years, those people that live in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana; school usually starts the second week in August and lets out in May before Memorial Day. Though, I do believe there is not that many of us.
I'm looking forward to the reunion. I hope I can make it. Our oldest son is in the Marines now and just told us he's planning on getting married soon! Were we this stubborn and pig-headed at 19? Then our daughter informed us that we'll be grandparents early next year. Those of you that are doing the math-my husband has 3 children from his first marriage, but had custody of them so I've raised them. We also have one son of our own.
Enough on that-has anybody taken an ad out in the Putnam Trader to post the URL? I like the idea of creating our own site for the class of '83. My husband's class did that on MY Family. It seems to be working out wonderful for them. You should see the pictures they post-some from grade school on up to graduation. It brought back some great memories for him.
I just want to say to Laurie and Janice-you've done a great job with the site and all your hard work.
Leona

Reunion Thoughts -- Alix Benjamin Porto,
09:03:34 04/30/02 Tue
Hi Everyone! After reading through the board, I had a few thoughts . . . Why not start a committee? If we want to have the reunion next summer, a date needs to be set fairly quickly. I think posting a message on Classmates directing people to this site for committee sign-up would be an idea (I would also include a deadline date for sign-up). Once the committee is formed, pick a few dates and locations and narrow down from there. You'll never be able to please everyone with the date or location, if people truly wish to attend, they will. I agree with Polly on the cocktail hour, a formal dinner is too constricting. Anyway, just a few thoughts, let me know if I can do anything from here (Massachusetts). Janice, thanks for taking the time to put this site together! Polly, congrats on the baby - have you mastered the fundamentals of sleep deprivation yet?
Regards to all,
Alix

Diane Galligan Farrell,
06:44:52 04/23/02 Tue
Hi Ladies,
Yes, there is supposed to be a hotel being built behind the Villa Barone. I wouldn't hold my breath about date of completion though. Here's my two cents... We have the reunion in Danbury at the Amber Room, it's big enough and most of the area hotels have shuttle buses to and from the facility. If we have it on a week night ie: Thursday it's cheaper? I'd be happy to help with any of the arrangements. I'm still living in Carmel, and I know a lot of the caterers in Danbury. If we have the reunion before May it will be cheaper. Anytime after that we will be paying top dollar. Either way we have to pick a date now, otherwise we're going to miss the boat, or be forced to have it at an area bar... I hope this info helps...Let me know if you'd like my help or need me to get info for you...
Polly, Congratulations when are you going to have # 2??
Diane
PS... I still keep in touch with Alix Benjamin and she said she would be happy to lend a helping hand if needed

Villa Barone/Lombardi's in Mahopac --
Janice,
11:05:27 04/10/02 Wed
Hi again!
Well, I just heard that the excavation going on behind Villa Barone in Mahopac is going to be a HOTEL! Yahoo! If this is true, then we can stay at the hotel behind where we have the reunion. Can anyone local confirm this info? Tracy? I cannot go to Villa Barone Today, but I can drop by there on Friday or Saturday. I am going to talk to them about dates in August and find out if that is a hotel going up behind them. For those of you that are far away, Villa Barone is the old Lombardi's on Rt. 6 in Mahopac. It has been updated and is really pretty and looks great at night, especially.
Gotta run!
Have a great day!

We, Putnam County, have our annual picnic @ Ryans field. It is a great event. Bar-b-que, DJ, Volleyball, the jumping thing for the kids. There is a playground and baseball fields. It is a nice place for the family. As for a local watering hole. I know I say the class of 82 up at Gugs for there pre reunion get together. The local bars are hard. They are so small. I think Smalley's redid the basement. Not sure.

RE: Reunion --
Pauline "Polly",
06:24:14 04/04/02 Thu
I e-mailed Janice the other day and there is a gorgeous place down here (Cortlandt Manor/Peekskill)where I had my wedding -- Crystal Bay. It's on the Hudson, they have a huge room and it used to be the old Fleishman's Gin Factory (which we thought was a really appropriate place to say "I do"). I know the owner very well -- we've had several functions there. It's a bit out of the way but really nice (about 10 minutes from Colonial Terrace -- 40 minutes from Carmel). We could do an extended cocktail hour instead of a sit down meal. At the 10 year reunion, I honestly enjoyed the cocktail time more than the sit down -- I was able to see more people and move around better. There is a hotel nearby (clean but old) and they serve a fantastic Sunday brunch. Let me know what you think.

Hi Patricia! --
Janice,
14:12:12 04/01/02 Mon
Patricia..great input. If you read from the beginning, you will see that some want to have the reunion closer to Carmel and don't mind if we stay in one place and party in another. Laurie had expressed that she would like to see it happen in Carmel or as close to as possible. That is why we came up w/ places like Villa Barone, Jimmy O's (Alpine) etc..We thought about Ryan's field for an informal picnic and as for the local watering hole idea, Raymond McGuire would probably enjoy having us all at his pub some time during the weekend. The coffee mug idea is great! We also thought about having throw away cameras so we could all run around and take pics during the formal event. We really need to get a date and location down before we get into the other details. I really like the coffee mug thing. Also, everyone may want to think about having a cocktail party instead of a sit down dinner...that may be less money and more fun! I dunno..That is just my opinion. I am glad that you found the board. Keep the suggestions coming. Janice

Back Again --
Patricia Mulvihill,
22:04:08 03/31/02 Sun
Hi Guys-
Last night I was hanging out with my sister and it turns out she actually did alot of the planning for her reunion (Class of '78). So I was able to barrage her with questions and got alot of info.
They had their reunion at the Hilton in Danbury and here's why: Alot of folks were coming in from out of town and needed accomodation. Not everyone still had family in the Carmel area to stay with. Being able to stay at the same location as the reunion was very convenient, and they appreciated not having to drive after a long evening. It also allowed for more socializing at breakfast the following morning. Another big attraction for holding it at the hotel was ease of planning: the catering, bar, venue were all provided by Hilton, so there was just one downpayment that had to be made, rather than a bunch of separate ones to assorted businesses. The reunion commitee was able to borrow the banner from Carmel High School to put up on stage and they had some mugs made up with the Carmel Ram logo and their class date (she said everyone went WILD for them!). Lots of red, white and blue decorations plus momentos and photos on display, etc.A few classmates had actually gone into business together and they sponsered cocktail hour, which helped keep the cost of tickets down (though I don't know if we'd luck out like that). The one drawback about holding it there was that the bar closed down earlier than they would have liked - Connecticut bars close earlier than NY bars.Unfotunately, Carmel still doesn't have a hotel that would be appropriate for our needs, so perhaps Danbury should be a consideration. It's right there on I-84, but the hotel has since changed to a Sheraton.
My sister also told me that the night before the formal event, they held an informal gathering at one of the Carmel bars they frequented in high school (that's when the drinking age was 18!). That sounds like a good idea - not everyone may want to spring for the cost of the main event, but would still like to see old friends. I'm thinking Fiddler's Green in the Plaza in Carmel would be ideal for this, if you wanted to do it. It seemed to be THE place we all met up when home from college breaks.
And lastly, for a possible 25th year reunion, they are hoping that they can do a more casual gathering, like a picnic, so returning classmates can bring spouses and kids to enjoy the party. Another idea for us to consider. Alright, I've babbled on long enough.....
Trish

Hi everyone! I live in Cortlandt Manor (Colonial Terrace, anyone?) so I'm kind of close to Carmel -- if there is anything I can do, let me know -- although I just had my first child and now know why I waited sooo long. The Hilton/Sheraton sounds like a good idea if anyone needs me to check prices, availability, etc. As far as dates, I think Laurie and Janice should bite the bullet and make a decision -- you can go back and forth with dates forever trying to accomodate everyone! Let me know what I can do.

21:42:08 03/30/02 Sat
Well Hello!
I guess this board is starting to catch on. Ok, Labor Day weekend is no good? Let us all start again with the date, then. Villa Barone is really nice and I think that we should go for it for the formal event. I have to look into the Ryan's field thing...we may need insurance for that. We don't want to have it before the kids get out of school, school starts before Labor Day weekend. Soooooo, somewhere between June 20th and August 25th??@$$%? LOL! I don't have a clue! Somebody throw a dart at a 2003 calendar, ok????? Yes, I had 2 cups of coffee after dinner and have eaten too, too many jellybeans. My dog is "unhiding" the eggs and I can't sleep. Happy Easter! Hi Laurie and Everyone-
Took awhile to find my way here. Great idea to set up this message board. Not being able to post over on Classmates is a drag.
I haven't scanned all the posts here so I don't know how far along into the planning y'all are. I'm in Manhattan but get up to Carmel about once a month or so, since my sister still lives there. So I'll try to pitch in on whatever you want to throw at me. I'm in touch with Dana and Bruce alot (they live in Florida), so I can keep them up to speed and maybe they can help track down any missing folks.
It might be a nice idea to set up a web site for us to keep in touch on a more permanent basis - not just for reunion purposes. Anyone who brings a digital camera to the reunion can post the pictures on the web site for everyone to see (cool, huh?). Just a thought.... I'll keep checking in.

I have begun sending out messages to Classmates registrants... they limit the amount one can send out each day, so I will keep plugging away at it. I also like the Labor Day weekend idea. And I didn't know that Ray MaGuire had a pub. We should look into that, or Smalley's (doesn't Tony Porto still run that?) Janice, I will start a list of email addresses that I receive... we can begin a database. Hope this site keeps working, it's a great idea! Chow! LB

I still say Labor Day weekend, but people may also have obligations for that. I dunno, what do you think? I saw Donna Krivak in the dollar store a few weeks ago and I gave her the url to this board. I hope she finds her way here. I saw the Villa Barone lit up the other night and it was really pretty. We still need to figure out what hotel we will use. The Danbury Hilton is now the Sheraton. That is about 10 minutes from the Carmel exit 19 0ff I-84. I should really go to McGuire's pub and talk to Raymond. It might be fun to have an informal gathering there.

Hi Angela,
Yes, I think that June is a crazy month for a lot of people. School is just letting out, graduation, weddings...How about LABOR DAY WEEKEND??? Let's chat about that. AND Gina, w/o access to everyone's e mail addys, we will just have to use word of mouth. I just saw Candy Tangredi in Sam's club the other day. I gave her the url to this board. Can someone tell me why I am up an hour early??? Yikes!!! cofffeeeeeeee.

>Hey Janice,
You Love Your Coffee don't you.....LOL I think Labor Day is good. I am just ready to have a party so anytime is good for me. Can't we write an individual letter to each person on classmates and get the word out that way? I would be willing to construct a generalized letter and e-mail individually to each person.. It is a shame that we are having a hard time getting participation up. well let me know.... its getting late and I need to get my beauty sleep. And God knows I need a lot of that!!!!!!! Hi Everyone, just leaving my opinion about the date. June will be a little hectic for those who have kids...wrapping up the end of the school year stuff. It will be my sons senior year, so we will be celebrating his graduation!!!!Late July or August would be better for me. Just a thought...Keep me posted... thanks ..Angela

Janice,

Hey, I spoke to Laurie yesterday. My cell phone cut me off, but we got to discuss the date for a few minutes. Well, what it all boils down to is when everyone wants it. It is really hard for everyone to be pleased w/ when this thing happens but w/ this much time, we can do our best. Let's hear some opinions as to when we should hold this event. Ofcourse, summer..but what month?

hey Janice,
I think a good time is June. July is a pretty busy month for most people, the holiday, most weddings end up in july, and probably people with children are getting ready to go on vacations. Thats just my thoughts. Also how do we get more people to respond to this board. I have been telling who ever I speak with, but it doesn't seem like we have a lot of participation.. Thanks for all the work you are doing to get this off and running....... Talk to ya soon

Hey Janice,
I think that all suggestions are good, I am taking a vacation then so I won't mind partying all night Sunday. Lambardies sound real good to me. Is there a place where out of town people can stay, its been over 15 years since I have been back. I was looking for a hotel as close as possible to Carmel. I am also not sure if I missed the actual date of the reunion, was one set? I really like the picture Idea if you could get that to work... Well thanks for getting this started and I hope more people start to look at the message board.
Talk to you

Hi Gina, no date set yet. I really have to call Laurie. --
Janice,
02:17:48 02/18/02 Mon
Well...we were supposed to have a HILTON right here Carmel by this time, but I guess it fell through. We have the Danbury Sheraton (used to be the Danbury Hilton), Little motels in Brewster and all of the hotels in Fishkill in Dutchess County. Fishkill is not really that far. Exit 13 off of I-84. Lake Carmel is exit 18..I jet to and from w/ no problem or stress. I would probably wait to see where everyone else is going to book, so you can stay near alums. Most hotels will reserve a block for a large group at a "reduced" rate. "Reduced" usually does not mean much of a discount, but at least everyone is staying at the same place. Do me a favor and e-mail Laurie about the date. If you get in touch w/her, e-mail me personally. Just click on my name in this post.

I have been reading the messages here on the board. Your ideas sound great so far. I love the idea of a formal get together. I live a little far away to help with any of the actual planning (I now live in Buffalo) but I will help in any other way I can, emailing, calling, etc. Just let me know what I can do. I don't know if I missed it, but is there a tentative date set for the reunion? Keep me posted ..thanks..Angela

Buffalo? Are you a Bills fan, now? I guess what you could do right now, would be to contact any 83' alums that you know and have them register w/ classmates.com and also get to this board to exchane ideas. Laurie Brown Vang and I have had problems w/ undeliverable e-mails, so I have not heard from her since her last post on this board. I will have to do it the old fashioned way and call her on the phone! LOL! Have a great day and stop back here for updates and chat.

sunday night? --
tracy green-smith,
15:47:51 02/13/02 Wed
Sunday night? That kind of stinks if your going to drink. Monday work and all. Kids getting babysitters. I have teenager daughters for my baby but, everyone else? That might be a factor. I kind of favor the more towards formal idea. Not prom or anything. I know that the former JimmyO's in patterson redid the restaurant as well it is called the Alpine and the man who owns it is always eager for business and is very accomodating. I had a few parties there forlarge crowds and was pleased with it. Just food for thought. How about Putnam Park? That is a pretty big area? I am not sure about there alcohol policy though. Anyway. Happy Valentines Day. xo

I did not mean Twisted Tap for the formal event --
Janice,
04:00:36 02/16/02 Sat
I really had the Twisted Tap in mind for a sunday informal "wrap up party". This is a pub and club style place and way too casual for the formal event. The place is not open on sunday which means we could have it all day sunday and into the night. With the video games and pool tables, it is kid friendly so everyone could just bring children if they wanted or needed to. As for the drinking, an entire day and into the night seems like enough time for those who are interested in that. Jimmy O's/Alpine is a good idea too. I really like your first suggestion of Lombardi's/Villa Barone for the formal. Since the Lombardis retired and it has been taken over, they have done a lot of renovation. It comes highly reccommended. Now remember, there are some alums that will be flying or driving here for the weekend(or longer) and would like to make the most of the time here. That is the only reason that I am throwing out ideas for sunday afternoon and sunday night to go along with friday and saturday. Laurie, Wayne, Gina, Liz and alums..what do you think???

Tales of the TWISTED TAP --
Janice,
05:08:53 02/08/02 Fri
Hi! I am glad that you guys like the board. Laurie, I am glad we connected! LOL! Well, In my travels yesterday, I met up with woman who owns a place called the Twisted Tap. It is on Rt. 6 in Mahopac. It is a 300+ capacity pub.
If anyone is interested in an even on sunday, this may be a good place. It has a full service bar, a soundstage with lighting, DJ equipment that we may use. The stage is big enough for a band. 2 pool tables, video games, A chef that will cook pub style munchies or entrees. The best thing is that we could have the place all day and night. Oh, 8 televisions..so we could play a "through the years" video and be able to see it from anywhere in the place. I did not (well, a little!) discuss price w/her as I wanted to see what everyone thought first. Since this will be closed to us, we can make it as formal or as casual as we want. We will be able to go in and decorate whenever..We did discuss open bar/vs. cash bar and cash bar makes the overall figure less expensive. Oh, It even seemed to have a coat check. There are a lot of great places around here, it just depends on what everyone's magic number is for price and what type of events they would like. The only bad thing about the Twisted Tap, is that this deal is available for sunday and sunday night only. It is rather new and is so popular that they won't close it down for private parties on fri. and sat.
I won't be able to sit down and talk dates and prices w/ Mike Cautillo until after Feb. 14.
When I do hook up w/ Mike, I will bring the digital camera and take pics to e-mail around to everyone. I am also working on getting access to a private lake and small beach and lawn area. The problem is that they are sticky about insurance with alcolic beverages being served. They also may not like the 300+ people invading! I did not realize that we are such a large group..I guess when you add children to that, we are even more! Hugs to all,
Janice
PS...Tracy, is that the baby crying???? LOL!

Ok...So now we have
1. LOMBARDI'S (formal)
2. Twisted Tap (informal) (only available on sun.)
3. Ryan's field (informal)
4. Lake Carmel community center (formal or informal, but can't get an insurance rider for alcoholic beverages)
5. *maybe* a private lake, beach and lawn area (formal)
6. Ethan Allen Inn (formal)
7. McGuire's Pub Rt. 311 Lake Carmel (informal)
I need to stop and talk to Raymond if we are gonna go there either officially or unofficially
8. Don't let me forget to get a price on wedding "throw away" cameras! What a rip..The Class of 83' all armed w/cameras...could get ugly!! LOL!
7. Hmmmmm..Candie (Griffiths) Tangredi is a wedding consultant/floral designer as far as I know...we can ask her about cameras and decorations.
8. I am going to get coffee now.
9. Bye again, Janice

Hi,
Let's use this board to share ideas about the reunion. The more of us working on this, the better. Let's start with Hotel/ballroom type event vs. Hotel/separate location for event.
Personally, I would like to get away from the Ethan Allen Inn thing. It has been done to death. I have been to so many weddings and retirement parties there and it just seems like a mill. I have a lot of ideas, but let's just start with this. Janice Cody Ruseskas

This board should start filling up when you announce it to all of 83' registered with classmates.com
Now do you see why I only did the reunion contact job for a year? I did not want to hog the free membership that allowed access to all classmates.
As I stated above, I will talk with Cautillo's after the 14th. It really is a pretty place to hold an event. Also, what about gathering old pics from everyone and making a "Through the Years" video. We could go from Elementary School pics all the way up to present and have the video play continuously wherever we have the event.
Just another idea.

Janice
