Author: Hi, My name is Janice and I am a CHS Graduate....
Subject: Ahhhh, Lake Carmel...Yonkers North...Home of the drafty windows, frozen pipes and the neighbors cats on your porch...

How Did I get to be a Carmel (gulp) shhhh! local???? I blame my parents. I blame the schoool system...I am calling my therapist right after this! LOL! Anyway....I am so lazy today.
I have not left the house yet. I had an idea though..If anyone is still interested in this board. How about this:
YOU MAY BE A CHS GRADUATE IF:
yA know..like that comedian? whutzhisname???

That redneck that does that "you may be a redneck" bit.

I love the one about..."If you've ever been too drunk..ta fish.." Funny.

If you call the corner of Gleneida and Fair St.
UPSTREET..Ya may be a CHS graduate

This is the one that really gets me...
"Where is Joanie's house????" "Uh, down the road" People here still say that! For years, I just wanted to say WHAT F#%^&&*$# road?

Mr. L Greenwood has to be the closest to EXPERT on what it is like to be a LOCAL here.
He and Mr. McBride make a lot of us look like City Slickers. I was totally culture shocked when I landed on Kentview drive in the 70's. New people marvel when I tell them that ShopRite on 52 was a farm that housed the Menagerie called the Putnam County Humane Society. I used to like to visit the mule and the goats. Mr. Greenwood remembers when it was a functioning farm! I remember getting in the back of Big Bob Johnson's pickup truck with all the bags of garbage and having the time of my life with Kathy..singing all the way to the dump. I would call my friends in Larchmont and tell them the wild tales of splitting and stacking firewood and sledding on a foot of packed snow with Bobby, Kathy, Mary, Chrissy and Jeff Johnson, Kenny Bennett, Dean Riedel, Dawn Riedel. Bobby trapped animals! We fed racoons on our deck. My Grandma's Maine Coon cat and my big black Tom Cat bagged huge prey in the summer time. Our standard poodle became a motorcycle dog. He followed the boys on their dirtbikes everywhere..he ran and jumped like a deer. When Kenny Bennett bought his brother's blue pickup,it was the first time my Father ever considered not letting me out of the house. Would'nt parents now be grateful that a daughter's first car date was to go crabbing in Cold Spring? Sitting in a rowboat eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and checking traps???
LOL! Well! how is that for sentimental rambling...yikes.
Have a great day. Keep the shiny side and stay warm y'all!
Janice
