Brean: Breakfast. Pro-Plus. JD. Pernod & Black. Stylophones. Fags. Classic Music. Route 66 Driving Game. Xmas Party. Friends. 70's Heaven.

That sums it up folks, but what about 2008? The late 2008 as we called it as it was far deeper into winter than normal, but the warmth of Kelvin's smile would pull us through.

Thumbs up first to the staff at Pontins who still don't point and laugh at the spectacle of a bunch of wrinkly 70's fans fetching up at their lovely place.
Booking was painless again for the second year in a row, so kudos for that, a good start to the weekend. As usual I was left to book myself and my partner in grime in. Normally he has such an exciting and busy life that he can't bear to tear himself away from his house untill deep into the evening, but this year....Hello! We arrived together. Sadly, the lure of the bar proved too much for his resolve, and off he galloped like a thirsty horse whilst I did the necessary. Chalet 481 this year, and at least it faced the right way this time. Last year we were saddled with a chalet that threw my sense of direction off so badly that I spent the first night trying to find the action whilst tangled in a hedge - (I can't remember her name).
So then, 70's gear on, we bonded with our birds for the weekend - Stacey Sequinz and Sussi Sparkle and found a plumb space right next to the bouncing bomb that is Superstar Neil DJ. If Brean has ever had a better DJ, I would love to see it, the man is a legend, he's got his finger firmly on the cheese and we were entertained from the off - and it takes a lot to get me dancing, so Neil - as always..thumbs up to you. A slight thumbs down to the other DJ (Bob?) seemed like a nice chap, but boy does he like to ride those faders.
So Friday kicks off and the atmosphere is warm and friendly again as usual.

Too Rex - But T-Rextasy are the best aren't they? How can this lot compete? Um, by playing brilliantly, actually realising there is an audience out there, picking some tracks off the beaten path, and they were great. Good start chaps. 8/10

Alvin Stardust - I've seen Alvin Stardust twice before, once at a Hemsby Glam Weekend in 1990 where he was pants ans looked ashamed to be there, and secondly in 1994 on a Glam Xmas Theatre tour - the one with the silly platform boots and the wig. Whether he was forced to drop this stuff because of GG I have no idea, but it has done him a favour. He rocked. Who would have thought it? Alvin in brilliant set shocker! All the hits done proper stylee, great band, Alvin in great voice and he looked amazing. SS and I agreed immediately that he had nudged himself onto the shag list - well performed Mr Stardust, let's hope you return. 8/10

Planet Abba - People love it, I know, but they just don't kick ass enough for me, and it was a bit of an anti-climax to have them headlining, but hey - bring on the dancing. So we did. The drink was kicking in, the rest of our party had arrived and it was full steam into the dawn. Oh shit, we forgot to eat again, oh well, there was always tomorrow........
