After a chance meeting at my local lake with an eel fisherman and helping him by taking pics of 2 eels 4.11,4.3,i have decided to divert 2 rods solely for big eels.

I've got most aspects sorted ie,running rigs, size 6 rapter on 15lb trace,28lb braid mainline, small dead baits or heads on the trace(fresh),hooks coming out of the dead baits mouth.

Now what about the alarm/reel situation?
I'm assuming that a mk2 swinger(just to hold the line down to let the alarms work) and bail arms open?
Any resistance will cause the eel to drop the baits.
Will having my baitrunners on an extremely light setting be enough to spook the eel?

And what about the strike?
With a deadbait head=strike immediately
with a complete deadbait=wait untill the first run stops and then strike immediately
With a tail deadbait=same as a complete bait.

What about bait sizes?

The lake i fish is reputed to hold upto double figure eels, how can i target the larger one's?

Any help or advice will be gladly accepted,if anything i'm assumming is wrong, tell me..
