What is an Orangeman?

I was once asked by a Hungarian, “What is an Orangeman?

I explained: “An Orangeman is a sort of Irishman who, in order to be thought of as a domineering Englishman, marches through our streets, often where he is not welcome, dressed as a Scotsman in honour of a Dutchman, to suggest that he is an original Ulsterman”.

He nodded, shook his head, smiled and walked away.
