Final day, 4/26/70: This was by far the greatest Grateful Dead concert I ever heard, FIVE hours of music that started with Lovelight and included an Other One where things really went cosmic. This was the kind of magical performance that created instant and lifelong Deadheads. The boys consulted the I Ching after the first number and then really let it fly. Garcia was clean-shaven, reportedly because he was in New Orleans the day before regarding their "bust" in February. An incredibly mellow day - the best line was by the lead singer of the local band Tongue, who performed a bit before the headliners went on. When brought back for an encore, he said, "You want to hear more of us when the Grateful Dead are coming on?" Not sure if the tape machine borke down but this show has never been circulated among the thousands of GD shows out there and what a pity. It has to be one of their best ever.
