I was on SS Uganda in 1982 or 81 (I think!). I was about 16 or 17. We were supposed to pick the ship up in Venice (flew from Gatwick) but there was an Air Traffic Controllers strike in Venice, and we picked it up instead in Split, the then Jugoslavia. Disappointing to not see Venice. Was supposed to stop at Rhodes, but Force 12 Hurricane winds kept us at sea (too dangerous to dock, besides everyone was having so much fun puking everywhere!) so we never saw Rhodes either! Did see Ephesus, Alexandria, Pyramids, Athens. Great memories. My parents stumbled upon the ship when it was laid up on the River Fal after the war. They took lots of pictures and sent them to me. What a sad thing she looked. Sorry she is now probably part of several hundred Toyota's somewhere. I still haven't been to Venice or Rhodes!
