I was on the Uganda in summer '69, from Bitterne Park School in Southampton, Route was Tilbury docks - Casablanca - Tenerife - Madeira - Lisbon. Weather was rough over the bay of biscay and the decks were awash with vomit. There were senior citizen passengers on board as well, one took ill on the way down and we had to take a detour to Lisbon. I think we were 4 days at sea from Tilbury to Casablanca. All the dorms were named after explorers, we were in Mallory. We were at least 8 to a room and the bunk beds hung off chains. There was a loose ceiling panel in the shower room opposite which is where we kept the duty free drink cigarettes airguns etc. We had a record player in our dorm and Jimi Hendrix's Electric Lady Land LP and Cream' Sunshine of your love single
