Hi Dave,

I too was an engineer cadet on Uganda, though a bit before your time - early 1974. I was in the '71 intake at South Shields. I sailed with most of the officers you have named in your list - Muttley, Roger Marshall (sadly deceased last year), Shuffs ( he was 4th on my first trip as cadet on Arcadia).

I have very fond memories of Uganda and as a cadet went on several day-trips with the students to "assist" the teachers. I remember having to give engine room tours to the students who were shocked at the heat we worked in! It was a wheeze to lob snowballs at the students made up from ice scrapped from pipes in the adjacent Evap room. The kids were astounded!!

If you haven't already found it, might I suggest you check out the "Seadogs Reunited" website. I think you will be amazed as I was at the nostalgic tribute to the wonderful life at sea we experienced. Many of the names you list are on it as am I.

Regards,

Richard "Bunny" Warren.
