I sailed on the Uganda in September 1981 or 1982 with what seemed like then half the kids from Liverpool. I was 12 years old and can remember the ship very well - the accommodation - I use the term lightly - was terrible. We were stuck in the deepest depths of the ship with uncomfortable bunks hanging from the wall on large chains. Conditions were most uncomfortable - hot amd smelly and the food inedible. However, I did manage to sneak into one of the bars in an area off limits to the children and couldn't believe the opulence - it was like the last days of the Raj. Anyway loved the sailing more than the places we visited. I was amazed to hear of the typhoon incident I always thought she was broken up after the Falklands.
