 I sailed on the Uganda from Ascension to the Falklands in August 1984, I was a 20 year old RAF Policeman on my way down for a tour of duty,it took 10 days to get there and this was my first time on a ship of any description and what an introduction to the sea,this was winter in the south atlantic and boy oh boy was it rough the further south we got, doing PT on the deck was a life threatning excercise on some days, I remember my cabin was very comfortable and the food was good, I now remember that trip fondly and the ship made what was difficult time a memorable one. shame she came to an end so soon after, would have loved to of seen her again.
