Thanks for the welcome, and for allowing the SS Uganda Trust some publicity about the SS Uganda book. Published in 1998, we still have some copies in stock.

The anecdotes are all of interest, and feel like a typical cross section, having interviewed many former passengers. One minor point, however, that I would like to make is that the dormitories were all above sea level (just!) However there were watertight doors on D deck, which probably explains how passengers got the wrong impression. The ship only suffered one serious mishap, touching the bottom off Alexandria in March 1979. At least one compartment was flooded and the ship, lower in the water, suffered minor flooding in some of the dormitories on D deck. She steamed across the Med in that state to Athens for repairs.

I'll watch this site and the Nevasa area with interest.
