In conversation about a school trip I took in the '70's I mentioned the SS Uganda to a friend. Curiosity took hold and I found this website and lo and behold, fellow travellers!! What an honour. We took a Spring trip from Ottawa with a group from Elmwood School for girls, flying Dan Air to Venice where we boarded. Memories include Matron chasing us down trying to get us to lights out (herding cats), bilges overflowing (what a sight), volcanic eruptions on a really stormy night, a Turkish nightclub where the guitarist sent a note asking me or one of my table to marry him (interesting as a teenager)...
I had heard the ship sank in the Falklands War. Am I correct in this assumption?
I have not taken another 'cruise ship' though I have continued to travel. Why spoil the fun?
