Had an unforgettable experience aboard the Uganda back in 77-8, a three week cruise from Ceuta in N Africa, calling in at Las Palmas, Casablanca, Freetown, Dakar and Banjul. I was 16 at the time and went with Loughborough Grammar School. The trip cost £220-odd and my mates and I had the trip of a lifetime. We were in Nansen dorm, which was the height of luxury (well, no it wasn't).
It was genuinely one of the highlights of my life, and I will be forever grateful to my parents for saving up to give me the opportunity.
My brother did almost the same itinerary 3 years earlier o the Nevasa.
