I was with a group from Buckler's Mead School in Yeovil - at the begining of 1980, possibly May/June time.
We landed at in Athens by Monarch Air from Gatwick (where whilst waiting for our flight found Bob and Paula Geldof!!)
the rest of our trip took us to Jerusalem and the wailing wall, Turkey, split in what was then Yugoslavia, Venice and Izmir ... couple of other places too.
I have loads of memories of this trip some sad (one student drowned on a day excursion)and some very funny!!!
Remember 2 girls from Devizes "Lisa and Laura" and midnight feasts, tooth paste on glasses and the music piped to our dorms 1st thing in the morning to wake us up .... especially "white Rose of Athens" on our first day in port in Athens ... very funny captain!.
Food fight in the mess hall, and putting some gloopy stuff along the edge of the food tray, because if anyone remembers - we had to slide the tray through a very small gap to the kitchen hands on the other side who snatched them sooo fast that you didn't have time to let go! lol
I also remember having a school work book that should have been done in "lessons" on board .... which I never opened, but kept for years!!!
It would be good to hear other stores from this trip too.
