was on the ss uganda in 1968 ,i was 13 and a pupil at shortlees school,my 14th birthday fell while on the cruise, our ports of call were ponta delgada (azores),funchal (madeira) and vigo (spain)we letf greenock in the summer of 68 cant remember which month, but i recall it was a glorious sunny day,,within the first couple of days we had a sad occasion one of the headmasters from a local school died .which kind of put the dampners on thing, but we carried on and had a great time, the only thing was a lot of people were constantly sea sick ,but i was ok.some fond memories of the sights and smells of the places we visited,,uganda will always be in my thoughts and i was very sad to read captain cox,s accoun of her last day,and the pics of her in that awful condition was shocking, but i suppose that being in the falklands did that,,she should have got a medal for her sevice to her country,,neil lindsay kilmarnock ayrshire
three cheers for the ss uganda
