Following on from Michelles comments I was at School with Michelle and it was late 1979 because Arsenal had won the FA Cup in the summer and I had an Arsenal holdall and in Israel everywhere we went you would here a local shout out Bobby Charlton or Bobby Moore!
We actually flew to Athens not Naples and it was great. We had to wait for the previous passengers to get off and after 36 hours without sleep I was laid out on a table in the canten and some girls thought I was upset because I was leaving and all of them snogged me good bye. Great start to the two weeks. I was one of very few 16 year olds I was a year above Michelle who I fancied to bits and still do! but we had access to the adults lounge and could stay up late. I did a deal with the purser where I would buy boxes and boxes of sweets from the tuck shop and sell on at a hugely infalted prices including foreign currency as long as I gave him a cut. We couldnt land at Alexandria beaause it was too rough and we couldnt use the tenders to get ashore. The kids from Beaminster in deepest Dorset were great and I ended up not only snogging most of the 15 year olds but ended up going out with one when we got back but it was an 80 mile round trip on my push bike until I got my car. Really fond memories and I see Uganda was on local nnews today as it is 30 yaers since the Falklands, still talk about it over 30 years later. Paul.
