Westbourne High Scool, Ipswich went on Uganda cruise. Flew from Gatwick to Malta where Uganda had been in dry dock. We sailed a day or two later for Alexandria iin Egypt and somehow they transferred all of us to Cairo for visits to thr Citadel, Museum of Antiquities and the Pyramids.

We then sailed onto Haifa in Israel and went to the Dead Sea in the sunshine and by the time we arrived in Jerusalem it was snowing.

From Israel we sailed to Izmir in Turkey and went to Ephesus.

Thereafter, we sailed to Mykonos, then Corfu and ended the cruise in Venice. We were fogbound in Venice so had an extra night in a hotel somewhere near Venice before flying back to Gatwick on a Laker Skytrain DC10.

I seem to remember we were in the Flinders dormatory.

It was a great trip and something much of its time - there is sadly no way that a few hundred UK schoolchildren would be allowed to sail around the Mediterranean these days. But I was very lucky to have the opportunity to do so when I did.
