 My dad was ship's headmaster - even so I had the best time ever. I was placed with a group of 8 girls who were with a Mrs and Miss Folland who were king and caring but came I think from the Indian Raj era! Status Quo and Rod Stuart were played endlessly on Christmas Day. There was also a nightly quota of warm beer in small plastic cups, allowed as we were all older teenagers. Do you recall we really did have lessons, from Leicester Uni I think. Happy days.
