 This info might or might not be correct but found info on my grandfather Angelo C. Pergolito. He caught a ride on the original USNTS Sampson WWI. It was decommissioned in 1948 - I think I read.
My father was the same name Angelo C. Pergolito as my grandfather except for the middle name.

Round identification pins were WWI. Rectangular identification pins were WWII.

It is my understanding through family photos etc. Frank Fimano was a half-uncle. Don't believe he served... not sure.

Still looking for additional info.
