Subject: My father at Sampson during WW2

 I know that my father, Jack Fino, was in basic training at Sampson because he spoke of it. He passed in 2001 & my mother had dementia before she passed this February. My grandson, Jack, visited the Intrepid yesterday in NYC and is all excited to know what his great grandpoppy did in the Navy. I believe my father received some kind of compassionate honorable discharge since he was the sole support of my mother, sister and a very sick aunt.
Is there ANY way that I can track down what he was being trained for ?
