As a long shot at this late date I seek further information on my deceased brother. The only thing I have is a copy of his separation paper (noted as form 3117), which shows date of entry as March 9, 1944 and place of entry as NTS Sampson, N.Y. Assuming a 10 week boot camp duration, I would guess his group graduation would have been around the first or second week of May 1944. I would like to know: what company he was in; confirm his graduation date; obtain if possible, a copy of his class photo or graduation book and/or any other photos with him and buddies.
Also, I have vague info that his post boot camp assignment was PBY's (maybe Quonset Point NAS?). Stations served are noted as Hdq. Sqd. 92 (FAW-9), Hdq. Sqd. 5-2 and Hdq. Sqd. 5. I'd like to find out what those indications mean and their locations. His ratings were: AS, S2c, S1c, AOM3c, S1c. Should anyone have any knowledge at all on any of the above I will be forever grateful.
PS: thanks to all US NAVY personnel, past, present and future, especially those veterans who with courage and commitment valiantly held the line during WWII and to whom our nation honors them with profound gratitude.
