 Was in Navy a coxswain on a LCVP boat took direct hit 0945 2-19-45 2nd wave from the USS Highlands APA119. Only survivor ,lost thirty-eight marines and three of my boat crew. Marines pulled me from surf and Coprman treated me, couldn't get back to ship , fought with 4th Marines ,27th reg for seven days then hit on the airfield, spent six months in hospital and discharged. Iwo was my third invasion.
