My father, Robert B. Campbell, now deceased, was a lieutenant (jg) aboard the Shoshone from its start (as part of the "boat group"). He continued to serve aboard the Shoshone well after the war. His nicknames were "Soup" and "the Blade". He had dark red, wavy hair. I do not know if he kept in touch with any shipmates. Someone (a carpenter) from the ship build him a nice chest that I now use to store his memorabilia. Here are some names of people (mostly officers) he wrote on photos: Lt. (jg) Collins,
Tyrone Dedwylder, Don Feser (Lt. jg of Muliphen, shot at Iwo but recovered), Commander Flanniken (Captain of Shoshone), Dick Harris, Ralph Hill (Chief Carpenter of Muliphen, met Bob some time after Iwo), A.P.C. Jacobson, (Neptunus Rex of crossing ceremony), Kendig, Lietenant (jg) Parker, Lieutenant Powell (Queen of crossing ceremony), Robertson, Lieutenant Schelling (Executive Officer), T.D. Todd (Lieutenant?, Navigator), Lieutenant Vereen, Lietenant (jg) Williams (Radar officer)
