 My name is Claude Aldrich, and I was in Sampson in Jan. 1944. Left there , went to torpedo school, then to a new Destroyer the Van Valkenburg DD 656, then to the Pacific to Iwo Then Okinawa, many days on pickit duty.. I have wrote a book of my time in the Navy. Its "A Boy, A Ship & A War", it's in Amazon & Barnes & Noble. I live in Lake Wales, FL 33898
